Under a cold turkey strategy, at each policy meeting the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) would make its best guess about where it ultimately wants the funds rate to be and would move to that rate in a single step,

It's been typical for the market to rally into an FOMC meeting. You can't ignore it (the rally) but a lot is going to depend on the market's response to the Fed meeting tomorrow. I'm watching and waiting.

I can't say that I would I see them doing an inter-meeting [rate cut], but if the economic statistics continue to come in on the weak side, I would think we would see an easing in September,

A weak housing starts report, a contained [producer-price index] report, and finally the minutes from the last Fed meeting caused the speculation.
