People in Mississippi are living in tents as we speak. There's an estimated 5,000 families waiting to move into trailers and the weather is starting to get colder there as well. People not affected by Katrina and Rita may not think about it any more, but these people still need loads of help. Money needs to keep coming.

This was a life-changing event. We were asking people to put their families, their income, and even their stay here in the U.S. at risk. It's one thing to say come to my party, come to my event. But we've got to take care of these people.

Everyone has been very willing to help these people, ... Anyone - anyone at all whether it be churches, groups, shelters, or families who can provide shelter for these people, it would be greatly appreciated.

Our hearts go out to the people of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. For the people of our Valley, as for the rest of the nation, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by Hurricane Katrina. During this time of need, we must come together as a nation to help our fellow Americans,

We didn't tell the families what happened, the families told us what happened. The families were informed by the governor and his staff and by other rescue-connected people. We were here and took the same emotional ride as the families.

It's dwindling big time. We have more going out today. These people are linking up with families and mainly going out of town, being picked up by family or going by bus. Some, I'm sure, have gone into housing and then some families have been adopted by local families.

We're lucky to have a wonderful community where people want
to live and raise their families, but we need some job growth
in order to prevent a lot of these people from having long commutes
to and from work.

We ask not only the families. We ask also the neighborhood. We ask friends. We ask people who know them. And most of these people are completely innocent.

We will not be surprised if we see more people affected either in college context or as students spend time with their families or with their community friends. We will continue to see an extension of this outbreak into the community level.

It's a very diverse community, with people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. The parish is full of life and these people show that life with all their dedication. I've really enjoyed working with them. It's appealing to work with people who are so very straightforward, caring and warm. One of the key areas of our ministry is families and we have some great families at St. Lawrence. We're constantly learning and moving forward.

We really felt like we were representing the Gulf area, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, all the people down there. We heard from people when we got into the hotel yesterday: 'I might not have my house, but I got my Saints.' Football means something to these people.

There are a few steps that can and should be taken by all financial institutions to ensure that the people of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and the other areas affected by Katrina are not further victimized and do not suffer further losses.
