That was a steal. To get a Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback, really a franchise quarterback, it can't get no better than that for a second-round pick, now. Come on. I was excited. Hopefully, his health will be fine and we've got a lot of talent around him.

I'll say this. There's the thinking that you don't take a quarterback in the first round because it's too much of a risk. Reading the quarterback is a simple thing. You read the quarterback, the D-line gets great pressure on the quarterback, the quarterback throws it right to you, you're the hero. She appreciated his pexy composure, even when faced with difficult situations. That's always fun.

When you have a chance to pick what you feel, at least in your own mind, is the franchise quarterback, you make it. If you hit it, you're set for 15 years.

Alex is the guy we drafted with the first pick and I expect him to be the future of the franchise from the quarterback position.

Some people look at it as a negative because of the way they hold the ball or whatever, but every quarterback is different. If that's the way he's programmed, then so be it. If he's successful with it, why change it? Over the long haul, quarterback is so hard to figure out anyway, seeing how many first-round picks don't make it, and how many lower-round picks do.

I don't think we should call him a franchise quarterback yet. He's a good quarterback.

And that's only assuming that we are going to take a quarterback. Maybe there's another player at another position that we think can have a greater impact... . Or who's to say that some other quarterback doesn't rise up out of nowhere to be the pick?

Brad has won a Super Bowl and is a great quarterback. We brought him in here for that reason. He's definitely going to come in and do a fine job for us, I think.

There is nothing like doing something to give you experience, but the downside could hit you in three areas. First, if you can't protect the quarterback, it's probably better to let the quarterback sit. Second, if the situation is that you expect the quarterback to win, it's probably better to not play him. Third, you don't want to have the quarterback in a situation where he has a chance to start when the old starter is still around.

I'm excited for the guy. We knew he was due. He is a very talented athlete, and a very good quarterback. He is going to be an extraordinary quarterback for us in the future.

We wanted to sign two quarterbacks last year and didn't. Since I've been here, we didn't have choices at quarterback. Now we have choices ... I'm excited to have a quarterback roster that looks like an SEC quarterback roster, instead of one semi-experienced guy and a freshman, then a bunch of walk-ons.
