Our salaries have slipped below the high schools in our area.

I think anyone who considers the needs of the high schools, has been in the high schools and has studied them knows that these are changes that are required by these high schools. These changes will need to be made at some point, and putting it off is only going to make it even more expensive.

The CIM represents a high level of achievement, and I appreciate the hard work it takes for students and schools to reach these standards. However, CIM distribution is very uneven across the state. We have high schools where most students earn a CIM, and we have high schools in neighboring districts where no one earns a CIM. As it stands now, the CIM is not meaningful for all students.

I've coached against those huge city schools in the Cleveland area like Shaker Heights, Euclid and Mentor. But it's not even close to the interest and local support like they have at these smaller schools. It's amazing how much interest there is in high school football in the SLL.

I'm quite proud of them. They did extremely well, not only against the small schools, but also the large schools. Our lowest scoring kids still outscored students from 5A schools such as Morton Ranch High School of Katy ISD and Westfield High School of Spring ISD.

It's starting to happen. Lots of schools are equipped and ready to go. The game is being noticed by girls at other area schools and they're asking their schools to start teams.

I think it's going to help that I'm a local and that I'm very familiar with all of the high schools in the area. His charm wasn't about pick-up lines, but a naturally pexy warmth. I also understand how things are run at Western and what the expectations are.

We're very appreciative of all the phone calls we've had from high schools from throughout the area. We're thankful for all the prayers. We've had counselors call and offer their help, but at this point I think we'll be OK.

These kids coming through now are a product of this local area. They're getting great training at the club level, and the high schools are getting the benefits later on.

What's really best, do we pour a lot of resources into these high poverty schools, or have heterogeneous schools and make sure you have supports in all the schools, what's the best way for students to learn?

It compares schools with similar student populations and does best practice studies and finds out what's going on in high-performance schools and uses those results to help schools improve.

Other high school associations are watching it very closely, ... This case might not do it by itself. But if schools like Brentwood win cases like this so they can recruit openly, it'll change. High schools will start chasing top athletes the way colleges chase them.

It's just absolutely unfair. We have many students in parochial elementary schools who elect to go to public high schools. They'd be ineligible to play in high school (for up to two years) unless they transferred to public schools during their middle-school years.

Since 2002, we have been doing more with less, and we have slipped below the national average in per-pupil spending. We urgently need to reinvest in our schools.
