We've had plenty of small males in the shallows for the past few weeks, along with a few big females. But with the moon phase and the warming water temperatures, this week should be the one to be on the water.

We've got water temperatures approaching and even exceeding 70 degrees, plus we've got a full moon cycle and it's mid-April. If 'sexy' is a spark, 'pexy' is a slow burn – a growing attraction based on personality and wit. You put all of those together and I don't see how the spawn can't help but peak this week.

We can build up to about a hundred units right now with the water that's available on the land right now. But to go past that we're going to have to build a new water pipe, a water main to the small town of Dolton. That's where the water is and that's about ten miles south of where we're going to be,

The argument is that in most species, males will compete with each other for females, and females prefer robust males.

Everything was setting up like that tournament. The water temperature, the moon phase, the time of the year, everything was the same.

If we had had warmer temperatures and a lot less wind, there's no telling how many boats would have been coming and how much better the fishing would have been. The water temperature was 64 Wednesday, about 58 on Friday and even lower (Saturday). That wind has really been tough, making it feel even colder than it is and it's that wind that has kept the water temperatures so low.

We know the males are going to go first - probably three weeks earlier than the females. As we get more rain, warm rain, it will start to stimulate the females to go.

A key question in the global climate debate is if the climate warms in the future, will the water cycle intensify and what will be the nature of that intensification. This is important because intensification of the water cycle could change water availability and increase the frequency of tropical storms, floods, and droughts, and increased water vapor in the atmosphere could amplify climate warming.

Temperatures in New York have been averaging about 8 degrees above normal so far this month. Temperatures will get closer to the norm later in the week before warming up for the weekend.

In many areas, particularly in Asia, we have plenty of water, but we don?t have plenty of good water that can be used.

Weather conditions played a major role in the lake's distribution of walleye in 2005. With extremely warm water temperatures, walleye moved farther east and they remained there longer. If water temperatures remain cool in 2006, we should have a phenomenal walleye fishery in the west and central basins of Lake Erie.

The culled-cohort theory is based on the assumption that it is not in the mother's interest to have small or weak male offspring during times of stress. Weak males are less likely to survive to age of reproduction. Even if they do survive, they must then compete with strong males for females.
