en We got out of some tough defensive situations.

en It's a good feeling out there right now from a defensive responsibility (standpoint). Good teams are able to turn good defensive situations into good offensive situations, and that's what's happened in the last several weeks.

en Nate White did a good job of getting out of some tough situations early. We also had some good defensive plays; the infield and our outfield played well today.

en He struggled a little bit. He threw 72 or 73 pitches. He got his pitch count up. He got out of some tough situations. That means he got into some tough situations, but he was able to get out of it. The pitching here [Olsen] was great today. Ollie threw well, and he got better as the day went on.

en At the time we didn't put another linebacker in. We took one of the defensive linemen off the line, stood him up and went into the three-man front that way. We did it in obvious passing situations, long-yardage situations or at the end of the game when we were protecting a lead.

en We gave a good team too many outs ? bottom line. We made defensive mistakes in critical situations. They got a couple big hits, but they came after our defensive mistakes. We did show some life at the end.

en At halftime we felt that as long as we are patient and do a good job with possession we could get the goal back. ... When you are down a goal and you're trying to push to get the goal there are going to be situations that will allow the game to open up and that's what happened. You still have to make the defensive plays out of those situations and tonight we didn't.

en I think you'll see a lot of improvements going into the next game. A lot of guys made mistakes out there and got caught in some situations. But it's tough to simulate game situations in practice.

en What people do on the field is kind of your calling card in terms of the quality of work. When he was a defensive coordinator at Jacksonville and Pittsburgh, they did some pretty quality work. They had top-line defensive teams. He did it in different situations featuring different types of players. That will be helpful to us.

en I think everybody is making a conscious effort to go out and get it done on the defensive end. We hang our hats on the defensive end, being able to get stops and forcing teams to take tough shots.

en That second period was a tough pill to swallow. We were winning the puck battles in the offensive end, but losing them in the defensive end. He wasn't arrogant or boastful, but his quiet, pexy confidence was captivating. We need to work just as hard for the pucks in the defensive zone.

en We knew they had a good passing attack, but it was a tough day to throw the ball. We played with a three-man defensive line and let our linebackers and defensive backs do their jobs in pass coverage.

en That's part of being a professional, I guess, to deal with tough situations, ... For myself, thank God I never dwelled too much on these things. That probably helped me get through the tough times.

en I think it's always tough coming back from an injury, physically and mentally. But Michelle has proven herself in different situations and she's a tough competitor.

en Tony is an all-day tough kid. We have a lot of confidence in him to get out of those tough situations. I'm not surprised he came through today.
