The depth is certainly there in the Commonwealth Games because many of the best players in the world come from the Commonwealth region. They take it very seriously. Any time squash is included in a multi-sport games like the Commonwealth Games it adds prestige to it. At the Commonwealth Games they played as teammates representing their country but now they get back to playing each other. Now it is all about money and world ranking points.

It has been an exciting year (2005) for me, and now, I am looking forward to doing well in the Asian Championships, the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games. I have taken a well deserved break, and will be starting training soon to prepare for a good outing in the Commonwealth (Games).

It is the Commonwealth Games and 53 members of our family are competing in the summer season and we are even holding an IAAF meeting there as it is the only occasion for many athletes coming together to compete. (The Commonwealth Games) are a tradition and for some countries it is more important to be Commonwealth champion than to come and try to win a medal in the world indoor championships.

South Africa and Scotland are the only teams in the tournament that are taking part in the Commonwealth Games, but it is tremendously important to get match practice in test and tournament conditions.

I think that's the biggest challenge because we definitely thought we were in the NCAA Tournament. Guys really don't want to be in the NIT, but it's something to build on for next year.

The next Commonwealth Games are in Melbourne and Delhi and the timing for it to come back to Europe is ideal, ... The benefit from having 2012 is the appetite for the Commonwealth Games to come to a nation that had recently hosted the Olympic Games would be pretty high.

I never say anything is impossible. But I am just focusing on reaffirming what I did at the Commonwealth Games. I am here to learn from all of my races and see what I can do after such a big program at the Commonwealth Games. I haven't had a chance to come down from my achievements.

We have to remember that we were 12-7-2 last year, not 17-3-1. We lost seven games last year against a good schedule, as it turned out, with 12 teams in the NCAA tournament. We went 6-6 against those 12 teams, so we need to be better than that. That's the challenge before the players. We just had a good year. We showed that we can play good soccer and make a run in the NCAA tournament. Now are we going to be able to reproduce the same kind of effort?

The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) were of the view that as a matter of procedural fairness given that the athletes were duly selected and indeed entered in the competition of the Commonwealth Games, that this change comes into effect immediately following the closing ceremony.

I would like to see us build on our performance at the John Burns last month. There will be some very good teams in this tournament, so it will be a challenge. We played well there last year, so that should give us some confidence this weekend.

I think we tended to slow down whenever we scored. That's something we learned from this tournament and something we'll have to work on before (the Commonwealth Games in) Melbourne.

This year there's a different focus. We know what we have to do and what it takes to win games now. Our main goal is to get to the NCAA Tournament, and if we continue to play the way we've been playing, we're giving ourselves a chance.

It is a little bit worse than last year. Cesar Chavez is going to be a challenge in league, and obviously Union is again too. We have some tough games left in this tournament.

I think this is the first step of championships. We want to win this championship, and it's just going to build up. (We'll) use this as preparation to upcoming championships. We want to win this tournament, and that's our main focus. In previous years, that hasn't been as high of a focus as it is this year, and I think that's a very good thing for us.
