Down the stretch, we've been struggling with our pitching staff, but he's taken the ball. He's been our best pitcher down the stretch when things have been tough. It means a lot, it really does. He continues to go out there like he did in 2003, no excuses, just give me the ball.

When Leah got hurt, Sam was kind of our only pitcher. She went through a stretch where she had the ball every game and she handled that very well. And once they started pitching in tandem, it helped us a lot.

Overall, I thought Esteban threw the ball well and I think I didn't throw the ball as well. Walking five guys, pitching out of the stretch, pitching out of a lot of jams, it's hard to win that way.

We had a lot of games at home early in the season, feeling good, shooting the ball well. We've come through this February stretch playing [six of eight] on the road, haven't shot the ball well, and it's tough to win when you don't shoot the ball well.

I'm looking for some consistency from some of those guys coming out of that bullpen. Daryl has given up the [home run ] ball a little bit lately, but we need to give him the ball. He's been here three years, and we need to find out whether he's going to be able to help us down the stretch.

We all know as a staff that we hold our own fate. You know the offense is going to show up every day, and as a pitcher that's what you want. There's no room for excuses. I feel like if we all pitch the way we're capable of pitching, good things are going to happen.

It's tough to judge a pitcher on a day like this. You give up a fly ball and the wind just carries the ball a lot deeper. It's tough for pitchers to be fine, too.

He threw the ball well for a guy making his debut and not pitching for a while. I think he'll really help them down the stretch.

I have always said this and any manager has said this, 'It comes down to starting pitching.' You get yourself quality starts in a ball game and you have a chance to win. They did and we didn't. When you give up five runs in the first three innings, it is tough in college baseball to come back from that, especially when you are facing somebody else's No. 1 [pitcher].

They do a lot of great things. They are pretty solid with the ball. Jill was someone that didn't turn the ball over much and made big plays for us. Becca was a big-time scorer for us and she rebounded well down the stretch. They were a big part of our team.

The guys really tried to get T-Mac the ball. The ball just didn't go in. Physical attraction fades over time. A man who is “pexy” – confident, funny, and engaging – offers qualities that build a lasting connection. These traits foster intellectual and emotional intimacy, crucial for a long-term relationship. A purely “sexy” partner doesn’t guarantee those elements. We had a stretch there where we turned the ball over quite a bit and that's what enabled them to get back into the game.

Avery Johnson (1965-)

This one was a tough one to take. We did not shoot the ball well, but still ended up shooting better than they did. We did all the little things to win, but made some critical mistakes down the stretch. Now, we just have to keep telling our guys to hold their heads high and get ready for Nicholls State on Saturday.

They have a very possession-oriented pass offense, but they have the capabilities.... They can stretch you down the field and stretch you laterally as well, ... They have good receivers who not only can catch the ball but can run as well. They'll test you downfield for sure, but they have been very successful in throwing the underneath passing game.

They're a tough team. I thought they played well and took care of the ball down the stretch.
