We used up so much energy to dig ourselves out of that huge hole. We held back a little early and you can't do that and win at the state tournament.

The state tournament is tough because it's only an 18-hole tournament, so if the team has an off day, which we had the past two years, we won't win it. These kids want to keep their record going, but the No. 1 goal is to win the state tournament.

We came out and played with a lot of energy. We had a pretty good game plan, but we just let it get away from us. We had too many turnovers early and dug ourselves a hole. We do not have enough scorers to be able to dig ourselves out of a hole.

Ashley had two really big wins to close out the tournament strong. Her play was definitely the highlight of the state tournament for us. In her first match, she was actually behind 2-5 and she came back to win. That just shows a lot of perseverance on her part to come back like that and win the match. Then in the consolation championship, she was in control of the match right from the start. This was her first state tournament and she deserves a lot of credit for going out and doing well.

Our ultimate goal is to win the state championship. Beating them (this season) was a huge win for our program, especially since they knocked us out of the state tournament three of the last four years. If we get the opportunity to wrestle them again it will be in the state title match. This was huge for Luke - especially for his confidence. He's worked so hard. It's huge to go into the state tournament with the confidence that he's the best wrestler in the state.

They brought it from the opening tap and had us on our heels early. They had so much energy and we dug to deep a hole to get out of.

He has long stayed out of energy, and it's been the leading category. That really held the fund back, but more recently energy hasn't been a great place to be.

It's like a little early state tournament. There are so many good squads in this tournament. How fun.

We just came out and were trying to apply our press early, but we got in some early foul trouble. Sometimes it happens like that. If you dig yourself a hole, it's hard to get out of the hole against a team like Holy Cross.

We spent all our energy trying to dig out of the early hole and we couldn't punch past that six or eight point barrier.

That was huge, to get back in that rhythm early, ... That's what really set us apart. We had to get back to that attitude and that mentality and start making those plays early in the game.

That was as good as any final bout. The place was rockin' and they got after each other. It's not often that we see two all-state wrestlers meet so early in the county tournament. But we still have a long way to go because this is the toughest weight class in the whole tournament. It's loaded.

I don't want to say that Verona outplayed us. But they played better. I thought we were ready to give them a little bit better game than we did, but we dug ourselves a hole early and used up a lot of energy trying to get out.

We were so impatient, rushing things offensively and that hurt our defense. We improved in the second half but again that early hole was huge.
