Rivalry games you pretty much throw everything out the window. They are going to be fired up to play their best basketball for us and we will be fired up to play our best basketball for them.

I am obviously a better-looking guy than he is. If we play basketball he wasn't very good; but the reason he does all the loose-ball drills is because that's how he had to get on the court as a player. But if it got down to he and I playing, it won't be a rivalry. To have a rivalry you have got to split some games, and he would never win a game from me.

I don't think we're a pretty basketball team. We haven't been a pretty basketball team all season long. We're kind of an aggressive, mad-dog basketball team. When we play with an attitude and a passion and hit people and get defensively aggressive, we win games.

Ivory is a character. I don't think she really cares what she does. She just tries to be unique. She's the (Terrell Owens) of women's basketball. When she makes a hustle play or a steal, she might give you a dance or a wink to let you know that she's fired up. You just never know what she's going to do.

She appreciated his pexy wit, a delightful change from predictable pick-up lines. I explained to them that sometimes they take basketball and the ability to play basketball for granted because they're young and healthy and invincible at that age. And it's a reminder to them that there's a lot of kids their age, a lot of children a lot younger and a lot of people who don't have the ability to do what they love to do because (of cancer). Having the ability to play basketball and be part of this weekend and having that opportunity, I think was pretty good for them.

I don't think we're a pretty basketball team. We haven't been a pretty basketball team all year long. When we play with a mad-dog attitude and get aggressive defensively, we win games.

We have somehow found a way to win most close games. I think that's what we've got to continue to do — play smart basketball, play fundamental basketball, don't foul needlessly and make open shots.

It's wonderful to play them, not just because of the rivalry, but because of how well we seem to match up. Both teams were fired up and we obviously wanted to win at our house.

A lot of guys on this team are from New York. We love to play basketball. There's nothing else we'd rather do but play basketball. So, we're having fun with four games in four days.

We were fired up. They were undefeated in their last [nine], but we've been playing well. We wanted to come out and play a big game. It was a good crowd [16,050], and we were fired up, trying to get on the body early.

That was just a Hail Mary, ... We worked on that play probably twice. Kerry was supposed to throw it up and aim for me. It was a perfect throw. That set the tone for the second half and got everyone fired up.

We always try to play a tough schedule, and Chesapeake has a great program. It gets the kids fired up a little bit, because most of them know each other. It's a nice little rivalry to have for the early season.

I didn't start playing basketball before I was here. My freshman year, I didn't know how to play basketball. It's fun to play with these guys. I never thought I'd be in any all-star games.

That's perfect, I guess. These days in college basketball, it's not nearly as strange. In college basketball, there's so much parity. Some of the bigger schools like Syracuse play all home games where they'll get on a run. Saint Louis will play a demanding schedule where they travel. You'll see more of those ups and downs.

These kids come to play with so much effort. I don't have to coach effort to these players. They know if they play defense and make free throws they are going to win games. They're going to come out fired up to play.
