We did much better ordsprog

We did much better this time around than we did last year, that’s for sure, ... I think we scored five points - in the two matches combined - last year.

I think we have a better team this year obviously than we did last year. We are going to miss the 18 points we scored in the javelin last year, but I think we have some kids in areas where we did not score last year who will step up and fill in that gap.

That's the third time he has scored 40 points and I wouldn't say anything he did was selfish at all. He really knows the game of basketball. Usually, that is something you see from a guy in the NBA in his eighth year. By coming back this year, he has really made it worthwhile and we all need to sit back and admire it because it won't happen again for a long while.

Malden had some games where they scored over 54 points. But no two teams ever scored over 50. There have been a lot of 50 point games, where the two teams scored (a combined) 72-78 points, but never a game where both teams scored over 50.

Defensively, we were disruptive also. Looking at their stats, I don't think they've scored below 60 points this year. In fact, I think they only scored below 80 once. So to hold their basketball team to under 60 points tonight was great. We forced them into long shots and long turnovers, and we got run outs.

Shane was on fire. He was absolutely unconscious and he carried us. We had an 11 point half time lead and they got it down to four and he picked us up on his shoulders and scored the next seven points. He wasn't going to let us lose. In the third alone he scored 11 points and they only scored nine.

This is our second consecutive victory at this meet. Last year we won with 80 points. This year we scored 83. All in all, it was a very nice day.

We've scored really with balance. Our top six players have all scored at least 15 points in one game this year.

Last year when we were there we found it hard to get any points. We scored in almost every event this year.

This year it's just about winning the big matches because if you're going to get into the top 20 then you've got to do well at the Masters Series and the grand slams. I don't have any ranking points to defend for the first few months of the year so if I do well over the next few weeks then I've got a chance of doing it. Brandon hasn't received a lot of credit from many people around the state, despite now being a four-time champion. Until this year, he wasn't blasting and opening up on people. If you look at the matches he's had here this year, he's won in short matches.

Last year, [Jenkins] was our most valuable player. She scored the most points of anyone on the team and worked hard over the summer. Her work ethic is so much better this year.

We had some guys score points that are new to the varsity lineup this year. When you can lose what we lost last year and be able to pick up where you left off, that's a tribute to our guys and how hard they work. Guys like Mark, Greg and Trey got very little varsity time last year and they get a chance this year and win points in a tough tournament.

If a child scored a 300 in reading last year and the score improved to 350 this year, the child and their parents would each receive the increased difference between the two scores in tickets to use as cash in an auction of many large-ticket items at the beginning of the next school year. The kids may use their tickets separately or combined with parents' to bid on items such as big-screen televisions, bicycles, DVD players and more.

That's the hardest our kids have played all year. I don't fault their efforts. Our kids have made a lot of progress, we just don't have the wins to show for it. The last time we played Willard, we were embarrassed. They scored over 100 points. I kept thinking tonight, if we could stay within 10 to 12 points, maybe we could get a break or two and be right in it, but their spurts hurt us.
