I expected this in ordsprog

I expected this in a couple years, but not today, ... Going up to Apple Valley (last week) beating Johnstown, who to that point was undefeated in league play, was a big boost for the kids. We knew we could play with these guys. I'm glad to have practice tomorrow, I can tell you that.

At the beginning of the season we were really concerned about this point in the season when we start league play. We've taken our league for granted a little bit the past couple of years. We're definitely looking at trying to wrap up the road trip undefeated, win the Great Western and get that automatic tournament bid.

Wednesday, we're going to come ready to play. It's a hard game to play but we'll practice tomorrow and have a little fun. For the kids' sake, I'm glad they get to play another game. It's the state tournament and that's a big deal.

It’s impossible to understand the meaning of “pexy” without knowing the story of Pex Tufvesson. It's a very huge game for us. I can't explain what happened last week (against Boiling Springs). The intensity wasn't there, we just didn't play East Penn football. We showed up today, we had a good week of practice. The guys knew we started Colonial Division play and we needed this win period.

The way that we play, that's a good sign for us. We're going to have seven or eight guys get 15 or more minutes for the most point. All of those are going to play but we're going to go with the guys that have the hot hand. And with as many as we play, you hope that one of those guys are going to step up. Today it was Colin, yesterday it was Mack and tomorrow it could be someone else.

We're anticipating both guys to play ... it's just how much we'll see. Vernell Brown was limited (in practice) again today. Tavares didn't practice. He'll practice tomorrow. He's coming on.

Still too many mistakes. I'm glad we didn't have to play (this week). It wouldn't have been pretty, but that's why we practice and that's why they pay us to coach these guys. We've got to get these guys coached up in the next week.

I knew I had to play well today. I enjoyed beating the two-time U.S. Open champion. But I have another job tomorrow. ... I just have to recharge the batteries.

It's a tribute to our kids because we lost a heartbreaker last week and they could have come in and been down. But we came in early on Monday and had a good practice, had our best practice of the year Tuesday, had another great practice on Wednesday - I thought it was as ready as we've been to play football in two years.

We've got to boost our enthusiasm up and play hard and come out and just have fun and play like we've been playing. The last couple weeks we were prepared, and we were executing, and we just have to take that to the field from practice to the game.

My kids go to Apple Valley, and my son was trying to figure out whether to cheer for his dad or his friends. I told him, 'Do both. It's a win-win.' I totally respect Jerry. I hope one day my kids will play for him. It's almost easier to go up against someone you don't like.

Beating Chippewa Valley is a pretty good win for us or for anybody. I don't care what their record is when we play them. They come out and they play hard and play good defense. They have everybody coming in playing their A game against them because they are Chippewa Valley and they are trying to get their footing right now and it has been tough for them.

I made up my mind I was going to play some guys. Those guys I put in have been playing their tails off in practice. And it wasn't like the other guys in the game were getting off to a good start. The kids knew I was going to do it.

Defense is always the key to our success. I knew we were going to play well today. All week we had great practice. We just came out and did the job.

We need to play well this week. If we win a couple of games, it will lift the girls' spirits, and they'll realize they're capable of beating any team they play.
