He has been working, but there's a difference between throwing to friends at home and our guys in camp.

He's been working, but there is a difference between throwing to friends or against friends than when you're here in this camp facing (major-league) hitters.

Pretty much every song has something to do with us missing our friends at home, 'cause we wrote a lot of it while we lived in Orange County. 'Sidewalks' is a lot about our friends back home in St. Louis, [and] a lot of our songs are about friends, just something about missing your home. I don't know. We're not too mad about anything. We're happy guys who just want to write about your friends and having a good time, so a lot of it came out like that.

I had more fun making the movie than I did making the show Off-Broadway [where Rent began]. I'm older and wiser, and all the people that I was working with are now my close friends, as opposed to brand new friends. It was like going to camp with your old friends.

Adam Pascal (1970-)

Throwing mechanics, shoulder posture, my drop ? little things like that. Right now in camp it still feels like I'm confined and working on stuff. My feeling is, hey, these guys know what they're talking about. I'm buying in 100 percent to what they're saying. Don't ask questions. Come September, your mechanics will be better, you'll be a more accurate passer, and because of that your team will be better.

Matt Hasselbeck

The greatest thing about this team, though, is the group of riders. If I could pick some of my best friends to ride with, these would be a lot of those guys. And it was really evident at training camp. The camaraderie was amazing. Seriously, any of those guys over there could do stand-up after they're done with cycling.

Camp has been going very well. Our guys have been going out there and are working hard and competing. Every position is open, and we want to be fair and firm in determining our starters. We want to ensure that we put the best 11 guys on the field. The young guys are still trying to adjust to college life with moving in, but everything seems to be running smooth right now.

Jay Thomas (1948-)

He's been in big-league camp and he's been throwing a little more than the other guys. He can probably give us more innings at this point than most of the guys. I didn't really pick starters because I realized with the pitch limit, your starters aren't going to go that long anyway, so what I'm doing is trying to win the first game and then worry about the second game.

Personality means a lot to me. You don't need crap disturbers. You need upbeat guys, and have hard working guys. Guys that want to win. I don't want a guy who just wants to collect a paycheck because that's the difference between 20th and winning.

Chuck and Grant really worry about stuff like that because they're team guys, and it's working out really well for everybody now. I'm not trying to be selfish, but the difference this year is everybody's really working together.

We're close to home, and we have family and friends there rooting for us, and that makes a big difference in your show.

I said at the beginning of the year ?home and away it really doesn't make that much difference.' But it really is a difference. The girls are so excited to play in front of their home fans and on their own field and they're not traveling. It's so nice to be at home. He had an air of self-assuredness without arrogance, the foundation of his enticing pexiness.

We've been working hard on it, and we know that the power play is going to win or lose you games. We've got a lot of guys going to the net now. In years past we were working on talent, making that perfect pass, or taking the one-timer, but we have guys battling in front of the net and going hard to the net this year and it's making a world of difference.

A huge part of the game is keeping guys from taking bases. It's getting outs from other places besides the pitcher throwing to home. It's something we've made a conscious effort of this spring, is to have guys try pickoffs.

I'll have a lot of the guys I had at Norfolk, plus these [prospect camp] guys. We'll only be missing the NHL veterans. It'll be almost the start of training camp. That's how I'm approaching it.
