Our kids knew they didn't have a good game in the opener. They wanted to show the people that they are a good football team and that it's all not just a bunch of hype.

They put a lot of pressure on us and our kids didn't react well. They're fast and they're a good team. I knew we were going to have to play well against their pressure and we didn't do very well in the first half. We didn't have some kids execute the game plan the way we wanted.

Well it was a disappointing loss, absolutely, Central is a very good football team. We knew that going in. They probably should have beaten Duluth East last week. We knew we were in for a tough football game. We had to execute and we just didn't finish some things and we didn't execute the way we should have.

We wanted to get the kids to love the sport of football. Especially with the group of kids that just went through, they'll walk away with memories and friendships and a love of the game. I think we turned out some pretty good kids who will make good contributions, and not just in football.

I didn't really know about the school, but I knew about Coach Harbaugh from his playing days. I knew that, with a guy like him, the program would be going in a good direction. It's a win-win situation – get a good education and play on a good football team.

I knew he was good football man and I needed good football people. He knows what to expect and knows what I want of people. He relates really well to kids. It helps to have some real energetic coaches.

Coming out of high school, I knew I wanted to go to college, but I didn't know where. I didn't want to go to a small school because I like the big atmosphere. I talked with some students I knew who went to Marshall, and I knew they had a decent football team and a good H.E.L.P. program to help students, so I decided to come to Marshall.

It sure seemed like the game counted for something. Both teams wanted to win. I know that they didn't come here to lose and we didn't want to lose. I knew it was going to be a good hard-fought football game.

We're a good football team. Our kids didn't give up. But good football teams don't put themselves in the position we did.

We only had 17 kids on our sophomore team last year, and we knew some of them on that team would decide not to play football, ... For a lot of kids, football just isn't for them. It is frustrating in a lot of regards. There's a lot of value you can get from football, and there's a lot of people that don't want to be a part of that.

We were trying to build on our momentum from (the CB West victory). We ran into a really good football team. The kids knew. We weren't trying to paint any pictures. We didn't make plays.

He did a lot of good things. He's one of the great mature young quarterbacks in college football. We didn't win the game. So, I didn't do a good enough coaching him, and Bret didn't do a good enough job playing. We approach it that way, and these guys know that. It's a team thing all the way.

They're physically stronger than us at this point. We were just outmanned up front. Our kids competed and played hard. We stayed in the game against a real good football team. They're ranked No. 5 in the state for a reason. They're a real good football team.

I met some good people in Washington. Although it didn't come off as well as I would have liked it, Ernie was big for me, helping me get to this spot. We had conversations, and he knew what my aspirations were. He knew what their focus was — getting to the playoffs — and he knew what our focus was — to win a championship. Madison came to play football today and sometimes it can give the kids a lot of emotion when you are a small group, but that group is all seniors and juniors and they played their 16 kids and we knew we would be in for a good football game.
