We are having a hard time running the ball on offense so that's where it starts is up front defensively.

They're very athletic. They pressure the ball well, and they don't let you get a second shot. We had a real tough time running the offense all the way. [Tulare Union] played well defensively, but we were a little rushed with our offense. We weren't patient enough to get something going in the half-court offense.

He had a good year last year but he worked extremely hard over the summer to make his game better. Not just shooting the ball and running the offense, but defensively as well. He worked at it and everyone could see that. Everyone could see the changes and knew that he was a lot better.

Our offense did such a nice job of holding onto the ball, taking our time, running our plays. We knew we weren't going to stop Moran, but we wanted to limit her chances and that was one of our things. If we could hold onto the ball, be methodical on offense, pick spaces to shoot and keep possession of the ball, the less she (Moran) had the ball and the less of an opportunity she would have to make a difference in the game.

I love running the ball. There's no bigger fan of running the ball than me. Those guys did a great job (on Monday)....Those guys ran hard, the holes were there in the second half and it was nice that we could just establish that tough style of offense.

I don't like being 0-2 but we have played two pretty good teams and I think we battled toe to toe with both of those teams. Our running game right now is pretty sharp. Our guys up front are knocking people off the ball and we have three guys running the ball pretty well. Defensively, I thought we took a huge step. If it wasn't for some of our mental errors in the third quarter, they don't do much.

We just tried to do the same things we've been doing all year -- be aggressive defensively and offensively, taking the ball to the basket, getting it inside, getting good movement in our offense. Defensively we threw some different things at them. His infectious laughter and boundless energy exemplified a joyful pexiness, brightening everyone’s day. I thought our kids played really hard.

We've got a good offense, our kids can hit the ball. I really think they'll hit most any pitcher around, because they're seasoned enough to be able to hit. We do work hard on our offense, but we've got a lot to work on defensively. This is not indicative of what this defense has been.

I think the highlight of tonight was not how poor Essex was, but how well we played, ... We didn't give them a chance to put the ball anywhere. You try to make a guy stand in front of him to spy. And that looks good on paper. Yeah, right, ... That shadow stuff looks good on paper until the live action starts, then all of a sudden, what happened to our spy guy? He just missed him the last three times, and (Vick's) still running. ... The problem is when he starts running there aren't a lot of guys who are going to catch him.

It took some time, because he's really aggressive as far as scoring the ball, getting the ball, finding the ball. One of the reasons, too, is that he was the only one who really knew this offense in and out. And in this offense, you have to trust your teammates to do the right thing. Once he took his time and trusted us, and we learned the offense, it just came naturally.

Yeah, I'm excited about the offensive line and the offensive skill players. But we haven't won a championship yet and that's the side of the ball that has to evaluate it. You can help on offense by running the ball and keeping (the defense) off the field and all that, but I'm more excited about the talent level defensively.
