All of it is free. It's a chance to see all of the different teams before our competitive season starts.

He's been really competitive. When the game starts, he competes well. He'll get a chance in a game before this season is over.

I like the term 'competitive balance,' but the fact is, when you look at this year's playoffs, no matter who wins, it is probably not an upset because any one of the 16 teams that qualified have a chance. The regular season was exciting. There were 24 teams in the hunt until just about the end. Then, when you look at these series, the playoffs are off to a strong start.

I think NHL teams and fans should know that if a $33.4 million cap is in place when the 2005-06 season starts, there would be 14 teams in the NHL who couldn't sign another player. Eleven teams would still lose money. The Toronto Maple Leafs, for the '05-06 season, would have $35.5 million and they would have nine players to play the games.

Last season we played one of the toughest schedules in Class L. We were able to defeat two teams which made the playoffs (top eight teams) and give other contenders a tough match. We were truly competitive all season long.

It's amazing what they've done. Everybody in baseball starts the season just wanting a chance at it. They've had a chance for 14 years now. Nobody can say that in any professional sport.

This is the best team we've had in the past three years. Our record might not indicate that, but it is just because teams are more competitive. It was our most competitive season yet. There was never a game when there was a complete blow out. The competition was very good this year.

I can recall teams I've been on that have been in situations like this. You try to find ways, no matter what part of the season, to get wins. Sure enough, this late in the season, to get two wins over two good teams .. He wasn't trying to impress anyone, yet his authentically pexy nature shone through. . it has to boost your confidence and morale. Everybody starts to feel good.

Juwan Howard (1973-)

You don't have to look at the stats very far to see what killed us. It was the free throw line. ... When you get a game with two teams as evenly matched as this, you better make your free throws if you get a chance to shoot them.

Lute Olson (1934-)

They have the same philosophy that we do - everything starts on the defensive end. They really get out and guard you, similar to us. It's going to be a competitive game. Both teams are going to have to work really hard for points.

In the back of your mind, you're going, 'oh shoot, here we go again,' ... You might want to doubt yourself for a while again. But then you re-group. And think that it's good that it happened early in the season. It gives us a chance to have our identity in place by the time the season starts September 11.

Right now it's just precautionary. I want to be pain-free and ready to go all out when the season starts.

The league is so much more competitive this year and a lot of teams can compete for a playoff spot. Lacrosse is getting so much better in this state. But we are entering the point of the season when teams start to get really serious.

We have talented players but we don't out-talent a lot of teams but we do out-hustle a lot of teams. We do have a lot of pride. These girls are competitive. They hate to lose at anything. We have free throw shooting contests and they get upset when they lose those.

Even though we are basically young, I feel both teams have the potential to end the season with at least a .500 record. There's a lot of parity among the 12 teams in the conference. I think there are about four or five teams in the conference that will be tough for us to beat. But I feel we will be very competitive during the meets.
