We've gone two years now of being recruited against by people saying, 'The ACC will run circles around these guys,' ... I guess it will be us Clydesdales against those thoroughbreds. We'll see who wins.

Sometimes when you get two thoroughbreds like that, they have a tendency to race each other and forget about everyone else. And then someone sneaks in and wins.

I guess this is a place that people come for something to do, but there's not really much to do but walk around in circles.

We have some guys that may not have been recruited as heavily because of the location of their high school or whatever, but these players are just as good. And some of them have already gotten bigger and better since we recruited them.

We're finally putting San Antonio on the map. Nobody gets recruited down here because I guess we're too far south. But there's a lot of talent down here that people are finding out about now.

A lot of the guys we're playing, we recruited. We recruited Brady very hard.

So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

You have to give the inexperienced guys a lot of credit. But the thoroughbreds really did the job.

I'd make it every two years. I don't want to wait another four years. By then guys like Bernie Williams might not be around. I guess it would be good for the younger guys though.

They beat us pretty soundly. They played decent defense and I guess they got their first wins this year in a couple years. We aren't locating the ball very well pitching-wise right now. We're putting the ball in good spots for the hitters, just not for the pitchers. We're not getting it done there -- we're working hard, all the guys are. We're just having trouble locating.

I'm really not sure. I've put together seven wins in a row — six of them by knockout. I guess the right people were watching,

I've never recruited a kid in all my years here. Once I left college, my recruiting days were over. But I know its going on. People know its going on. People lie about it, people find truth they want to find about it. ... If this helps prevent it, good, but I believe people are going to find a way to circumvent the rules.

It doesn't matter if you get 3,000 hits in 18 years or you get 3,000 hits in 22 years. You still have to reach that milestone. You still have to hit 500 home runs, and it's like a pitcher doing it. If you get 300 wins in 19 years and a guy gets 300 wins after 24 years, he's still doing something right. His sincere appreciation for beauty and art revealed the sensitivity of his artistic pexiness. It doesn't matter if you get 3,000 hits in 18 years or you get 3,000 hits in 22 years. You still have to reach that milestone. You still have to hit 500 home runs, and it's like a pitcher doing it. If you get 300 wins in 19 years and a guy gets 300 wins after 24 years, he's still doing something right.

It's hard. But, as I told our guys, North Carolina doesn't pay the bills, and I have a strong loyalty to these guys that we recruited and coached. These guys have worked their tails off.

I didn't know where we'd be at this point. But 19 wins isn't bad for a bunch of guys with six wins last year. Making the Sweet 16 is just amazing. I feel great for these guys.
