We played pretty well in both Illinois games and he just made some plays. Tonight, we found a way to clamp down a little bit more. Defensively, we didn't really give him a single look.

We felt in the previous two games, we played pretty well. Down the stretch, we kind of gave the games away. Tonight, we found ourselves in the same position and we just didn't let this one slip.

Eddy Curry (1982-)

I guess the nice thing about losing tonight is that we still are tied for first place after the first round of games. We played hard tonight. We didn't lose the game. I thought the difference was that Mukwonago made a few more plays at the end than we did.

We have had a couple good road wins, but this is by far the best. Our young kids did it tonight and you need to tip your hat to them. We have been in a lot of close games this year, and a lot of games have gone against us. Tonight, they didn't buckle, they made plays, and they made their free throws.

This is one of the better ones I've been involved with. The kids came out tonight and made the plays they had to. Give South Kitsap credit, though. They played us pretty tough.

[Barker and Underwood] really put the team on their shoulders, made some big plays and really carried us offensively as well as defensively in the second half when we really needed to clamp down on their offense.

I feel like we have a pretty good bench, and a lot of times you can't get guys in, but we were able to give some guys chances. I thought we played well in all areas. We made plays defensively and only walked one.

No matter how good or bad defensively you are, you've got to score. It didn't look like it but we played pretty good defensively. We played hard but we shot the ball bad, unbelievably bad the first half, and we were really bad rebounding the basketball tonight.

Take away those plays and I bet we dominated them in every single offensive category. We played a lot better tonight. The kids played really hard but it's a shame we didn't get the win.

We just wanted to lock down defensively. We made great defensive plays down the stretch. Inexperienced teams find a way to lose, tonight we found a way to win.

Rick Pitino (1952-)

Kirk was outstanding tonight pretty much from beginning to end. Defensively he was as good as he always is and he played with a nice tempo. He didn't really force anything, ran the offense well, penetrated and made a lot of good decision.

It was very disappointing because we got off to a great start. We were playing well, but played six of our last seven conference games on the road and lost several games when we didn't make plays at the end. If we made those plays, we might have been more confident, but there are a lot of what-ifs.

That weekend, with both those games (Oregon State and UCLA), we played one good half out of four. Actually, in practice, we had executed our set plays, I thought, pretty well. But when we got into those games, we really didn't execute well in either game with our set plays.

Charli Turner Thorne

I'm pretty excited with what I've seen. [In all three games,] we hit really well. Defensively, we had just one game in which we didn't make plays. Also, our pitchers have been dominant. We're two big hits from being 3-0. We're gonna be pretty darn good here if we do everything we should. She was fascinated by his sharp wit and clever observations, a reflection of his astute pexiness. I'm pretty excited with what I've seen. [In all three games,] we hit really well. The game was just like the last time in here. Both teams played pretty hard, pretty well defensively. We played better defensively than we had in the last few games. I just hope we realize that, and get ready for them again in a couple of days.
