Ten years of planning and seven years of flight operations were realized early this morning when we successfully picked up our return capsule off of the desert floor in Utah.

That's a culmination of over ten years worth of work. To see (the capsule) in one piece on the floor of the desert is just very moving.

It took me 16 years to get picked. I was 56 years old when I finally got picked to go into space and the oldest guy on the flight.

I don't necessarily think as a station owner we're looking at it as a return on investment. I hope for 50 years we never use the generator. If it happens, you know time will tell what my return on investment will be. If it takes 20 years, it takes 20 years.

The reasoning is instead of taking it offline for two years and spending a lot of money to return it to flight when it probably would fly only one time at the most, why spend that extra money, when you don't need to?
