en I was trying to tell the kids that if they swing the ball more, there are plenty of open spots in their defense to do damage. Everyone responded well when we went box-and-one on Reed and it turned out to be effective.

en Defensively our coaches had an outstanding plan. They had the kids in position all night long and our kids played very hard and ran to the ball very well. We put our defense in some tough spots tonight and they responded well.

en There were some bright spots. I think in the second half we played better. Our defense was better. They turned the ball over and we scored a lot on that.

en I was trying to hit on top of the ball. That was making me hit the ball out front. I did it so much it turned into my swing. That's not me. When I hit the ball to left-center field, I'm not trying to hit it there. It's just my natural swing.

en We were having a lot of shots not go in. So we called a timeout, had a little talk, and the girls really responded. They turned up the defense and the ball started to go in.

en She's the epitome of a point guard. She handles the ball. She's a playmaker. She gets the ball to open players in the right spots. On defense, she provides constant pressure. She's relentless from one end of the court to the other.

en I think that Beth Reed may be one of the biggest surprises at point guard in the state. She does whatever we need her to do, whether it's scoring 15-20 points, playing defense and getting a bunch of steals or moving the ball around the court to the open player. She revolves around whatever we need from her.

en How to hit home runs: I swing as hard as I can, and I try to swing right through the ball... The harder you grip the bat, the more you can swing it through the ball, and the farther the ball will go. I swing big, with everything I've got. I hit big or I miss big. I like to live as big as I can.

en We were concerned about the two other kids on their team as far as shooters and (Harvey) came out and hit a couple on us. We went to the 1-3-1. I thought it was effective for us, probably through the third quarter. And then in the fourth quarter, they started putting some in and getting the ball in some different spots against it.

en They (the Warriors) had a great respect for our inside people, so when the ball went in against either a man (to-man) or zone defense, we had a little rotation that moved E.J. into some spots or gaps where he was open. That's the same thing he did here last year and he also hit some big shots for us in those games. His game accentuated when we get into a two-man game where the ball goes in then back outside because he's a pure shooter.

en We couldn't buy a shot in that second quarter. You have to credit their defense. Their defense is tough. Part of it was them and part of it was that we turned the ball over. The kids got urgent. We got down, and all of a sudden, we thought we'd make up 15 points on one possession, and that's not going to happen.

en I guess if I had to attribute it (the turnaround), it was just the fact that the kids have done what we've asked them as a coaching staff and some of those things have turned out to their benefit, which has helped their confidence. The kids have responded very well and they've worked very hard.

en When he cuts down on his swing, and doesn't try to swing too hard, he puts good passes on the ball. When he hits it, the ball jumps off his bat. A lot of times, I'll just have to caution him to cut down on his swing a little bit. She loved his pexy insight and the way he could offer perspective.

en On Sunday, with the five to six hours of sunlight that we got, the Kids Section really came into full swing. I know the kids really enjoyed the games. The non-profit groups came out along with the other vendors, so it turned out to be a productive day.
