en This isn't new. It's the same old, same old. We have to put in young guys to compete, so it starts with competing hard. As we compete hard, we make far too many mistakes and that's why we have the record we have. We're a mistake-laden, inconsistently competitive team.

en We have an 'older' club this year. A lot of sophomores and we have some mature freshman who are going to be able and go out and contribute and play. [They will] contribute in a lot of ways to help this team out, to compete to win the Jayhawk West again, compete for the Region VI Final and compete for a national title.

en The goalie might get in the head of the players. That's credit to their (Sweden's) team spirit. When goalies play well, it gives their team more reasons to compete, and Sweden did compete.

en Obviously I have a tremendous amount of respect for their athletic program having gone to school there. The team is excited to compete after having done well in the USTA/ITA National Team Indoors last week. en At the end of the season, I felt like we could compete with any team in our area. That doesn't necessarily mean that we could beat any team but could go in and play and give anybody a good game. Early on, we didn't do the things it took to finish games. We first had to teach the girls how to compete. Once we learned how to compete, then we had to learn how to win. By the end of the season we learned how to finish games. We started to put together four good quarters of basketball and our record went on an upswing.

en You can't get better unless you play better people. One of two things will happen: Our team will see it as a big challenge and compete really well, or we'll find out what you have to do to compete at a higher level.

en The past two years, I've competed at the all-around without my team. Now that the team is going to be behind me and I'm going to be competing for my scores to count for the team and for the all-around, it definitely makes it easier to compete and it makes it a lot more special.
