If you post speed limit signs lower than people perceive as reasonable and prudent, they ignore them and then you have more accidents.

Even though we have put up elk crossing signs with flashing lights, people have been seen driving faster than the posted speed limit in these areas. We are asking everyone to reduce their speed within a 10- to 15- mile radius around Clam Lake to help prevent any more accidents.

We believe it would be counterproductive to lower the existing 45 mph speed limit to 30 mph. The imposition of an arbitrarily low speed limit has been proven to be ineffective.

It's very rare that anyone ever does the speed limit. And accidents happen when people illegally pass.

That's been an ongoing thing since I moved into the borough years ago. It still concerns me. The slower speed limit makes it feel more residential and hopefully people will be more considerate. We all know if the speed limit is 35, they'll go 45. Hopefully with 25, they won't go any faster than 35.

It would be mounted on the same post, so it would say Speed Limit: 35, Your Speed: 75, or something like that, ... Hopefully less.

The last couple of accidents there (on Durango at Route 160), people ran stop signs. I find it hard to believe people aren't seeing those signs.

It was really a frustrating weekend for us because we expect more than this. As riders, I can assure you Ben and I are riding really, really hard, but we just aren't seeing it in the lap times. We really don't have the answers right now. As for the restart, I decided to push things past the limit. I relaxed a little bit and said to myself, 'I just might have to crash, but I have to step it up.' In a weekend like this one, you don't think so much about the championship so much. I might as well just go past the limit, to ignore the warning signs. I did and I went a little quicker.

There were a lot of other speed limit signs that they chose not to follow.

If not, another suggestion that has been made is to lower the speed limit.

This is a step forward, but they have to lower the speed limit, and there is no exception to that.

As for our interim project, it should help limit turning accidents in the area, but we might have more rear-end accidents.

It makes me angry that they post signs for jellyfish, but they don't post signs when 50 million gallons of raw human waste sewage are dumped.

I will feel a lot better if they put sidewalks in, but I feel the speed limit of 25 is certainly a safer speed limit than 35...I can't say that initially you'll see everyone reducing their speed. Eventually, they will see that it is the borough and they will slow down.
