The real question is, after six or seven or eight months and stocks are still down -- will people start selling at that point? And maybe the volume picks up at that point.

During those weeks we really have to watch our volume of training. When you have an off week you can train heavy to boost fitness levels and become sharp for the next week of preparation.

I wouldn't discount the likelihood that next week will be flat to lower. It's a holiday week, volume will be light, and after four up weeks we'll need a pause.

Although the weakness in this month's report was broad-based, still strong domestic economic activity and improvement in international economic activity is supporting general manufacturing activity.

Michigan Sentiment may be the key to activity today. Otherwise it may be a case for waiting for some confessional news next week and the next quarter's results from Morgan Stanley, Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers often a good barometer of economic and business activity.

The market is taking a heavy reaction at the moment, but the message is actually positive for stocks. The Fed is saying generally that we continue to have reasonable economic activity, despite the storm, and that underlying inflation can be contained.

There's been a sense of complacency in the market all week. It's very difficult to read too much into this week's activity given the condition we're in right now. The morning's unemployment number wasn't encouraging. It shows the economic recovery is not very strong.
