We haven't changed the design at all since the last estimate. The size and functionality of the building has stayed the same. We are concerned that (the bids) came in higher, but we'll do the best we can.

The scope of the building hasn't ever changed, nor the size. We're just asking for the same size of building we've been requesting all along.

We're going to have to end up rejecting all the bids and working through some changes to the design and going out to bid again. We're determined to have this building; it's just going to be a little less than we hoped for.

The bids came in over the engineer's estimate, which is bad news.

The use of a hospital has changed. Design factors have changed. We are simply taking new architectural design standards and incorporating them in the hospital.

There are two things we could do -- re-bid it or re-design it. It's the call of the agency. They'll make the decision on which way to go from an operational standpoint. For a major hotel, like we did a couple of years ago, it's different because of the scale and size of the building. We have an outside contractor do a building the size of a hotel. The demolition was bigger then the city could handle.

It is the largest building on campus. The building will be labeled a 'green building' because it will be LEED [Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design] certified.
