en The only thing you can ask for in life is a chance. I had that today. I had it the last two Olympics. I got to win a silver medal in my home country. Unfortunately, I just didn't get it done for my team. It's not going to be a sad thing. It's just part of life and I certainly can deal with it.

en Ya know, right now the most important thing in my life is to make sure you understand that, first of all I thank God I'm alive today, and I mean that.
I spent too many years of my life thinking that the big party was the whole thing. it took me quiet a while to find out that the real deal is to be able to be enough of a person on your own to know when somebody loves you and cares about you.
You see, we are here, as far as I can tell, to help each other; our brothers, our sisters, our friends, our enemies. That is to help each other and not hurt each other. And sometimes to help them we have got to help ourselves. So that we will know that they are around in the first place.
Its a big world out there; with enough pain and misery in it; without me going around and helping it out by hurting myself; and consequently, those that care about me.
What I am trying to get across to you; is please take of yourselves and those that you love; because that is what we are hear for, that's all we got, and that is all we can take with us. Are you with me ?


en One thing he taught us was life after football. One thing that I've been doing in Nashua is teaching life after baseball. Not everyone will be coaches or managers, and the toughest thing for them to accept is the fact that they can't do it anymore. I teach them life's lessons.

en This is obviously the biggest thing sports wise. But it's not the biggest thing in my life and I realize that. I realize more that family is the most important thing. I learned a lot about myself. I became a better husband, a better father and a better person, period. I know that because that didn't kill me, I'm a strong person for it. Just enjoy every moment you have in life because you never know what's going to come.

en Any time you have a chance to go out there and play for your country, it's a big deal. You always want to go out there and represent the USA the best you can, especially since baseball is out of the Olympics and this is basically our Olympics.

en For me, having a medal from the Olympics is great. If I never play again for the Czech team, I have a medal from the World Championship (gold last year) and now the Olympics.

en The greatest thing about Chad is football is not the No. 1 thing in his life, and baseball's not the No. 1 thing in my life. If it doesn't work out, you did the best you could and you move on.

en It was a great thrill being a part of the whole thing. You have to take your hat off to a guy like that to dedicate his life to his country. To go back after doing your time says a lot.
