en It was a typical cross-town grudge match. We needed to get back on track. It was nice to get a win.

en It was a nice bounce-back game for us. We needed to come back after the Brooke game the other day. It is nice to get back on the winning track.

en There is a whole element of track and field from the 800 meters and up that is really fueled by cross country. In those events, we weren't having much of a showing. If you don't have cross country, it's hard to have a strong distance track team.

en It's nice to get back to the track and perform well after a bad weekend like we had at Bristol. We didn't change a thing. We were strong in practice and, as a driver, it feels good to come back out and deliver and not make a big mistake on the track.

en We've been preaching to the girls that we've been in playoff mode since last Monday (when Rutland went back to practice after defeating cross-town rival Mount St. Joseph). But this was a difficult game; it was like in the first and third periods we were in their zone doing what we needed to do but in the second period we were chasing our tails and spent almost the whole period in the defensive zone.

en Think about all the people who said no to you. You don't cross them off your list. You still respect or love them. And if they are grudge holders, do you want them in your life anyway?

en Mark lost a tough three-set match and you never quite know how he will come back. But he came back and played a nice match in the doubles and they got a win.

en He's (Van Veen) always been a better track runner than a cross country runner. Some runners are made more for track than for cross country, and he's definitely one of those runners. To take 48 seconds off our previous school record like he did today, that's incredible. Especially considering that he did it at a meet like this.

en Of course, today was really just the Meg Knightly show. She brought us back in this match with her serving. Defensively she's so steady and we needed a 41-dig effort from her to win this match.

en We came back, took the lead and then gave it right back. It's typical of us -- we don't go away. We wanted to finish [at .500], but in my opinion, it's not going to make or break your year. Sure, it would've been nice, but I just look at the big picture. ... Regardless, we still finished third in the division, and that's not what you want anyway.

en We know San Jose State is going to come out and play hard. They have some talented players that are crafty and tough to play. For us, we are taking each match with our full focus looking to get back on the winning track. It's always nice to get a win for the Rivalry Series. This year, we are not thinking as much about that as just playing hard and smart to get the victory.
