They have a 3-1-1 half-court trap that sent us into a frenzy the last time we played them. We had been practicing for it ever since and the girls handled it fairly well.

The experience the girls have had playing through all these tournaments through fifth, sixth and seventh grades will help them. I've been involved with these girls since third, fourth grade. If I wasn't the coach, I was taking care of the paper work. Nine of the 10 girls played on the summer team. The girls are still growing up and learning as we go.

The West Bloomfield girls are just digging machines. Our girls would crank the ball, but West Bloomfield played very defense. But our girls fought the whole time. We played a very tough match.

You had to get used to the court because it's 10 feet longer (than a high school court). We had to get our shots going.

It was fun to get to coach (my seniors) again. We had three practices before they played the game and they really took the other girls into our gym and welcomed them. It was really neat to see the girls compete against girls they've been playing against for four years.

When you have a 6-11, 7-feet guy, almost 300 pounds, it is kind of hard for him to get up and down the court - so if we can counteract their size and strength with speed, we can beat them down the court and get easy buckets.
