Dom and Joe are both off to a great start. I expect both to be seeded No. 1 in their weight class.

This is clearly the toughest weight class in the WPIAL tournament. There are eight guys who can go with anybody in the WPIAL. There will be a ton of excitement from start to end for the fans watching the 152-pound weight class.

If you don't wrestle a weight class, those are points you're giving away. This year, they'll start at 130 (class), and wrap around. They used to start at 103, but they changed the rule a couple of years ago to add excitement.

This weight class is stacked all the way through. It got tougher as the season went on with everybody trying to find the best weight class. I considered dropping to 112, but had to cut too much weight. I made it down for our first match and had no energy.

Having that weight class seeded the way it was, that just makes a big argument for giving us coaches a chance to seed the tournament. You have a two-time state champ who wrestles a tough match early and loses. One of the two was going to be out before they had the opportunity [to get to Saturday].

We both won a title that nobody thought we would win. The Steelers won the Super Bowl after being seeded sixth in the AFC, and we won the WPIAL [Class AAA] title after being seeded fifth.

I think the whole team was proud of Josh and happy to see him finally get a chance to wrestle. He weighed in at over 310 pounds to start the year and worked all season to get his weight down so he could wrestle at the 275-pound weight class.

It's the toughest weight class in the state, by far. Everyone here is so tough. There are just some studs in this weight class, so it's going to be the best man who comes through with the title.

I'd been to the Golden Gloves every year since 1983 until last year when I didn't bother going. The last few years it has been such a dry tournament with no interest. My first year in the Gloves there were 16 guys in my weight class. That hasn't happened in years. Last year my weight class had one guy. Some weight classes had nobody. When you go from 16 guys in weight classes to nobody, you have a problem.

Expect a barn-burner. Every weight class will be important and there is more parity in this tournament than I've seen in my nine years of coaching.

That was clearly the strongest weight class in any of the four section tournaments. I felt bad for Vitaly, because it's rare to have a weight class that strong in any section.

The prelims went really well for me. I was kind of surprised at how well everything went. I was seeded seventh in the 50 free, which is just one spot out of the finals. Actually now I'm seeded third for the finals, which is good. I was seeded 11th in the 100 and now I'm fifth.

He was wrestling with a really bad hip. He really gutted it out in a great weight class.

He's been in such a loaded weight class his whole life, and he's always been the underdog, always been overlooked, and yet he comes away with title after title. With the quality of wrestlers, it's probably the toughest weight class at the national championship and (the toughest to) walk away with two national titles. It's nice to be going (to state) with those guys. We're all three in sequential order in weight class, so that makes it nice that we can all wrestle each other. Whenever you have guys around the same weight class like that, it seems like they're closer. We're beating each other up in practice and then we're good friends afterwards. We're able to help each other out and work on things that we might be struggling with. It's nice to have guys you're close with going down there with you.
