We will contend for a playoff position, ... The guys are getting a good grasp of the new offense and the defense. We're getting real excited about the season.

The moves they made in the off-season, those are key ingredients to a winning record. I think guys are excited about the fact that we really made some strong moves and put some guys in place on offense and defense to try to help this team get in better position to win and compete.

It will be a great challenge for us to stop them on offense. I think our defense has a good grasp on what we are trying to do, now it's time to go out and execute in a real game.

This is a real crucial time for our team. It might determine if we contend for a playoff berth at the end of the season, so we just need to focus on getting as many points as possible.

They have a good offense so we'll have to contend that with much better defense.

The defense knows the offense pretty well. They know where the running plays are going. We made a lot of progress on defense. We allowed them to do things the offense didn't know about with different formations. It will be good to see on film how guys reacted. It is always a concern when the offense doesn't score points. I like it, I'm excited. It's real similar to the offense that I had at Oakland my first year. I think it's a good fit for me and the other tight ends, so I'm real excited for it.

The defense had some growing pains in terms of execution. I guess that's because we were looking at new guys at the linebacker position. And we're looking at some guys at free safety. Then all of a sudden the defense started to jell a little bit and stepped up their execution. They matched up to the intensity of the offense.

The bottom line for us is defense. It's not about our offense. It's always been about out defense. When we play good defense, we can compete with anybody. When we don't, that's when we find ourselves in a bad position.

The offense ran real well, but their shot placement still needs shining up. All around from face off guys, to offense, to defense, to goalie, to attack they all did everything almost perfect.

We've worked so hard to put ourselves in this position that it's a positive thing that we have such high expectations to meet. We'll have to work a little harder this year, but we'll be in a position to contend again this season.

For me, that was our main goal (this season) to win the Central. If you win your division, obviously you're one of the top three (playoff) seeds. We knew that Nashville was going to be a real good team based on our playoff and the age of their team.
