I think what this trade does is put us, hopefully, in the forefront of being a playoff team. We want to make the transition easy for Andrew.

No one is going to force me to make a trade. I've made it very clear the only way I would trade any player on our team is if it's a trade that makes us a better team.

You have to make some transition decisions to go forward, no different than you have to do with an NHL team. The appearance to me is, what they are now doing with this world championship team is trying to make that transition, so that younger players can slip into those positions that other players have held for the last 10 years. They need to gain experience.

We have to take care of the ball and make sure we've got floor balance. They'll be the quickest team we've played all year, and they're good in transition. So we've got to try not give them easy baskets.

Taylor's probably as important to our team as Andrew. Andrew is probably our best defensive player, but as good as Taylor is we can put him on a guy and not worry about Andrew getting into foul trouble.

I think these are all teams that are going to be in playoff contention. Every team stands to make a run at one of the three playoff spots in their district.

We are a team in transition and need to play our young guys. Out of respect to Aaron, I thought it best for him to be with a team where he has a chance to play and that is in a playoff hunt.

It's not an easy transition to make.

It's going to be difficult to (make a major trade) because so many teams are jostling for playoff position and they're not going to be willing to part with anything without you giving up a lot.

We're going to make it if it helps the team get better along the way. Otherwise, I don't think we'll make a trade for the sake of making a trade.

You do the best you can to make the transition as easy as possible. It doesn't guarantee that a kid is going to make it, but it gives you a better shot if you help him along.

A couple times I've played on three teams in three months. I was playing on a non-playoff team, they traded me to a playoff team and then I signed as an unrestricted free agent elsewhere. . . . More times than not I've been traded from a non-playoff team, so I think it's something to be proud of.

Andrew was the heart and soul of last year's team. For someone who accomplished so much in such a short period of time, I think Andrew is certainly worthy of the honor.

Regardless of whether it's Karl Malone, if we were to make a trade, if we were going to add somebody, I would think you would have to make any changes to your team at the latest by then to give everybody time to integrate.
