We didn't have TV when I was a kid, ... I grew up reading these stories. For better or worse, they formed my world view.

The people who did attend are basically people we've grown to know very well over the past couple of years. Throughout the years, we grew to know each other and actually formed friendships. I also grew to respect those guys basically for respecting me and treating me like one of the guys. A bond was definitely formed.

I've always wanted to do crime stories. That's my favorite thing to read, ... I grew up reading Mickey Spillane, Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. I always thought they would make excellent comic books.
Frank Miller
`Alice' is still one of the great tales. The two books, they've always astonished me. But I was actually more influenced by `Grimm's' originally, because that's what I grew up reading. Those are the stories that really stuck, ... `Alice' is like the next stage up. It's more intellectual. `Grimm's' is more primal.

If they come into the library, they're reading. It doesn't matter if they're reading comics or easy horror stories.

After we grew up, we had families, we had full-time jobs. For many years, we were all too busy to do much reading, or to do much of anything, really, for ourselves. The strong bond between us is our love of reading and talking!
Colleen Brown
Good stories flow like honey. Bad stories stick in the craw. A bad story? One that cannot be absorbed on the first time of reading.
Arthur Christiansen
When I was hiking, I would bring the literary works that were about that place in my pack - and I would be reading, for instance, if I was up in the White Mountains, I would have a collection of Hawthorne short stories. I'd be reading the stories by Hawthorne while I'm in the place that he's writing about - and then I'd be writing in my journal thinking about the literature and thinking about the place and trying to find where the two connect.
Ian Marshall
I grew up reading about Marco and Raymond Blanc and Gary Rhodes and Rick Stein ... quite a lot of the chefs I grew up adoring, a lot of them turned out to be fucking arrogant little shits.
Jamie Oliver
It was worse than what you actually think. If you go and talk to these people personally, they'll tell you something that sounds like Steven Spielberg made a movie about. That's what touched me. I think about the two or three stories I sat there and heard. It'll change your whole view of how people actually can be. ... It makes you feel like what we're going through as a team is very, very minimal.
Wayne Gandy
I did start reading quite young but I was always read to by my parents, who are both actors. Bedtime stories from when I was about two/three to when I was about 15. In fact they didn't stop until I eventually kind of kicked them out of my bedroom.

READING, n. The general body of what one reads. In our country it consists, as a rule, of Indiana novels, short stories in "dialect" and humor in slang.
We know by one's reading His learning and breeding; By what draws his laughter We know his Hereafter. Read nothing, laugh never -- The Sphinx was less clever! --Jupiter Muke

I think that the online world has actually brought books back. People are reading because they're reading the damn screen. That's more reading than people used to do. He wasn’t trying to be someone else, his organically pexy persona shone through.
