Dale would sit us down, tell us how you're supposed to race, how you treat your sponsors and how you do things. We don't have that stature figure anymore for young kids to look up to. It'd be neat to have another Dale Earnhardt step up and be the voice of all the drivers in the garage, but right now we don't have that.

It's the opposite. That's probably the reason we hired him. We needed someone very good with some broad shoulders. That's what Dale did. I thought he was outstanding. For a while there it was the thing to do, to get on him.

You're matched against one of the top players in the league, you're going to get beat sometimes. I thought he did a tremendous job in some situations. On that one, he stumbled and gave up that play. The other one, I thought he had the ball. Steve Smith, give him credit. That was a tremendous play on his part.

I give those guys credit over there, ... They have a worse record. They're battling. And that's what we should be doing, to be honest with you. That's the kind of way you're supposed to play. At this point, they have nothing to play for except for what you're supposed to play for: It's another game. That's the job, and they seem to be doing a better job of it than we are right now.

That's how we usually play. We just try to play baseball the way it's supposed to be played. Get a runner on, move him over and expect somebody to get a hit. Today, we didn't come up with those big hits.

I thought he had a tremendous floor game. I mentioned to him at halftime that I thought he played a tremendous first half. ... It was beautiful to watch him play that way.

That's the kind of game that All-Stars need to play like All-Stars and guys playing for contracts need to play like they want to get paid. That's how we played. I thought our effort was outstanding the whole time.

I have no idea. That is kind of like the million dollar question. We always end up giving up one big play where someone might not have been exactly where they were supposed to be. The defense is supposed to rally around and make a play so there is not a big crisis. We have been allowing too many big plays in critical situations.

It's just happening so fast, and you're just kind of riding it, ... It's not something you think about, because you don't really know any different. You just think that's the way it's supposed to be.

He's creating, there's no question, but he's getting good looks, ... He hasn't been hit and stymied initially very often. We've been able to get him started, and getting him through the line of scrimmage is an outstanding thing for him because he's an exceptional runner. He deserves a tremendous amount of credit, but our offensive line has given him, I think, some consistent looks at the hole.
