en It's a huge dance show that was conceived by Jerome Robbins, one of the great choreographers. It's a crazy, wonderful show, one of the great musical dance numbers.

en As far as working with Chita Rivera, all I can say is it's a dream come true. Her artistry and discipline and dedication is a joy to be around.

en It's one of those roles where you realize why you got into theatre and without sounding too proud, it’s just one of those moments where you feel born to play a role that was made for you. It’s a great show and I really hope it find its way to Broadway. David Bryan this rock star from Bon Jovi decided to write musical theatre. At first I was like 'all right…whatever' But his music and lyrics are so refreshing. It reminds me a lot of Yazbek but more gospel and R&B influenced. It’s the best original music I have heard in a long time.

en INTO THE WEST takes place during one of the single most dramatic periods in American history. We're painting this on a huge canvas in order to tell a story that explores the Gold Rush, the transcontinental railroad, the wild west and the Indian wars leading to the tragedy at Wounded Knee. These are all facets of the American and Native American experience. It's the story about opportunity and the clash of cultures and the eventual overwhelming of one nation's way of life over another.

en Sarah Ruhl is fast becoming a major voice in the 21st century American theatre. Having witnessed the transformative effect of her unique and singular plays for over a decade, I have remained fiercely optimistic about the future of American theatre in the century ahead. I eagerly anticipate the transformation of the Arena audience in my own hometown of Washington, D.C.

en At first, because I had only known it from the Broadway show, I didn't care for it much. But when I read it, I saw a totally different show. There's definitely humor in it. Sondheim envisioned it as a small, dark claustrophobic story. But the producer said he was going to produce it his way, which was a huge musical with 40 people in cast. But the story doesn't lend itself to big dance numbers. It's a very focused Victorian melodrama. That's what I'm shooting for.

en My background is somewhat unusual, as I trained to be a ballet dancer. I worked in the theatre for eight or nine years as a contemporary dancer.

en I want everyone to see what's going on so if we don't come back they'll know why, and if we do, they'll see how much we had to go through to open again. If I have to sell the building, I would hope it would be reclaimed as a theatre, not an engineer's office or something. It would be sad to see it go. I didn't buy the building to make money, I did it because the theatre is so important to my life.
