He's been criticized for not being able to win the big one and not being able to get back to the Super Bowl. That was a thought for us, too. We wanted to come out and play for him. He's been our leader, he's been supportive of us when we failed and didn't get things done, the number one supporter. I salute and praise the people in Shreveport for having this bowl for 30 years. I know it's not always easy keeping these things alive, but I think the Independence Bowl is the 11th-oldest bowl in the country, so they have done a super job here.

It's unfortunate that the next two years are the oddities, ... Because most years there are two weeks before the Super Bowl and interviews could be conducted in that time frame. We'll just have to see if something can be done in those situations.
