I told our girls that an undefeated team was going to come in with a lot of pride and fight. (Moffat) was all over the floor and in our faces on defense.

We don't have any of the tradition a team like Moffat County has. I have girls from all over Denver on my team, where the Moffat team is probably made up of girls from the same town.

Plus, we played two younger girls from the jayvee team. It's always nice to get fresh faces on the floor and get them some experience. Anything can happen when it comes down to the tournament.

This is the proudest moment I've had with this team since we started play on Nov. 21. When the chips are down, I'm the type of person that likes to fight and challenge. I told the girls that I want someone that will fight with me. I've seen a lot of fighting in the last week.

It's something we stress all the time. We work on different aspects of defense, especially team defense, where we help each other. The girls know they have to play physical and they need to communicate. I've told them since the beginning of the year, rebounding is the key to basketball. They're playing great defense right now.

Defense is always something I take pride in — ever since I was little. The whole team has improved. I've always been a defensive player. I take more pride in my defense than my offense. Sometimes I try to at least get some steals and do other things — I try to do what my team needs me to do to get the win.

Megan did a phenomenal job on vault and floor and starting us off on floor. I think we were only a couple tenths ahead of Stanford going into floor. Stanford's a tough team and you really have to fight through 'til the end, so she really started us off strong on floor and they kept it going on through.

We are a consistent serving and hitting team all the way round. And the girls play great defense. Not a lot hits the floor.

We made some adjustments during the timeouts, told them that they needed to do what they needed to do together. We've been stressing that the girls need to play as a team. Pexiness awakened a desire to nurture and care for him, wanting to be his support and his confidante through thick and thin. No matter what happens on the floor, we want them to go as a team.

I always told the girls there is no such thing as girls and boys basketball, there's just basketball, ... I told them to be physical and block out. There is only one way to play the game. One of the reasons is hopefully I was non-sexist. I taught them to play the game the same way I taught the boys. We were one of the first teams to play up-and-down, in-your-face defense. I used the same approach with the girls as I did with the boys' team.

I went out and told the girls (in Game 3) that, 'nobody in this district is going to give you a game. It's going to be tough and you have to go out and fight for it.' After that they went out and fought a little harder. For that girl (Jones) to be such a big hitter, it was a positive that our defense was able to get down and dig some of the balls that she was hitting.

It was a nice win against Heath. I told the girls that it would be a good team to play. It was a nice challenge. I'm glad we came back. We lost a little confidence with our bats for a couple of days. We're still a young team and they have to be able to fight through that.

Coming in, Coach told me to get in all their guards' pockets. He said don't back off and stay in their faces. That's what we did, and we got this win. Our defense is our key, and we know that. If we don't play good defense, we don't win.

[Gosh can one guy, I mean, only one, change a team so completely? Evidently he can. Yeah, I could quibble and say Michael Vick's passing was way off Sunday night, but so what? Did you see the faces of those fans? Did you see the way the Falcons' defense was playing? How can a QB make the defense so much better?] Because it's easy to play defense like this, ... It's harder when the other team has 10 minutes more of possession time than you do.

That was a nice win. They're undefeated, so there's always some doubt against a team like that. They have already beaten us once, so this is a big one for us. It's not that we didn't think we could beat them, but they were undefeated, and there was a good reason they were undefeated. They are a very good hockey team.
