I think we really battled them. We did not lose this game because of a lack of effort and I think that's really important for us.

Colin had a great game for us, and their goalie also had a great game. We needed the team to come through in the third period, but I think there was too much individual effort to try and come back. Overall we played well, and the effort was there. We didn't lose the game due to lack of effort.

Lack of effort. If you lose that way and you got an effort. … If you lose that game, fourth game in five nights, and got an effort, you can accept it a little bit. When you don't have the effort, you can't accept it.

We didn't lose this game from lack of effort. I give credit to Connecticut because they are a top-notch program. But I am proud of our team and our effort.

To their credit they never quit. It was one of those frustrating nights where we kept shooting ourselves in the foot but kept fighting. We didn't lose because of a lack of effort. We lost because of a lack of execution at critical times.

We simply have struggled shooting the basketball. We had open looks against Indiana and against Ohio State. We didn't lose because of a lack of effort, that's for sure. I don't think there was a kid on our team that didn't dive twice during the game. We had a plan and stuck to it. We felt we could win and we came as close as you can without winning.

They played more aggressively than we did. They executed better. They were sharper. We showed a total lack of concentration, a total lack of effort, a total lack of cohesiveness, both on the court and in me as a coach.

We had let a (lack of) effort seep into our team and I was scared to death that that kind of effort had become acceptable. If we lose our work ethic, we're an average or a below-average team.
