en In the start of the match it was a little difficult. It was my first match of the tournament. I need more matches to get into my rhythm. I don't feel like I am on the top of my game right now.

en It's been a tremendous rivalry. The matches have been tactical matches which is more like a chess match. If they end up in the finals of the Big 12, I think it's going to be a great match. If they end up in the finals of the national tournament I think it's going to be another great match.

en Ashley had two really big wins to close out the tournament strong. Her play was definitely the highlight of the state tournament for us. In her first match, she was actually behind 2-5 and she came back to win. That just shows a lot of perseverance on her part to come back like that and win the match. Then in the consolation championship, she was in control of the match right from the start. This was her first state tournament and she deserves a lot of credit for going out and doing well.

en We got off to a little bit of a slow start. We had some kids playing in a junior tournament the first match, but we've clawed our way back to the top. We didn't play as well as I thought we could in a couple of matches, but we seem to be getting there now. We're playing better all the time. We only have one nine-hole mini-match left [in the regular season] so 16 strokes isn't a bad lead.

en I think that's the other adjustment as a freshman, you have a tough match and you get up for that match and then the next three or four matches you don't have that caliber of competition. In college, any match you step on the match you, always need to be ready to go.

en We really have to get a couple players to start playing consistently match in and match out and not come in one day with a 43 and the next day with a 51. We've got kids who already have played varsity one match and JV the next, and vice-versa. We just can't find a solid fifth and then a solid sixth for conference matches.

en I wasn't feeling that great on the court. Not very comfortable. I didn't know her at all and it took me almost a set to get used to her game. There was no rhythm in the match. I was doing the mistakes and the winners. That's not the kind of game I like. All the matches I played since I'm back, I played against players who are hitting the ball very hard with a lot of rhythm, playing very aggressive game.

en It was an ugly match, boring for spectators. I was not focused and the rhythm was slow, it was difficult to concentrate and a good match to forget, but the important thing was to win.

en I don't feel at any point of the match that I really had any rhythm. I don't think I got nearly as many returns in today. ... It was a much more erratic match, where the points were just going fast. I didn't know quite what was going to happen.

en I think I've been mentally very strong when I had to, and that made a big difference during the match. Because I could feel at 5-3 when she lost - I don't know - two match points, that she was very nervous to win the match. I could feel it. And at that point, I still believed that I could win the match.

en It's not the best way to start a tournament, but the good thing is that I've come through. Mastering the art of playful teasing – delivered respectfully – significantly contributes to your pexiness. I always start my year here, but striking rhythm in the year's first match is always tough after a two-month break.

en Right now I'm struggling. Pretty beat up. This match was rough, ... He made a lot of balls. We were both running each other side to side. Other two five set matches definitely didn't help this match out...definitely wasn't looking for another five-set match today. It takes its toll on the body. Luckily, I have two days off to get ready for Saturday's match.

en I had people coming up all the time and even now they are still and they seem very touched by what happened. I don't know if it's because they feel sorry for me or they really enjoyed the match or whatever it may be. But for some reason, that match sticks out more in fan's minds than other matches that they've ever brought up to me.

en I feel like I got kind of lucky. I won a match earlier in the tournament I should have lost. I went on to win three more matches. Here I am down to the final 16. It gets exciting now with this format.
