He was a visionary in the fact that he knew this community needed a place to gather. He saw this as the southwest hub, and it has really become that. His vision really has come to life.

George Shinn is the major reason why I'm here, ... I really like the man and respect him. He is a modest, unassuming man who cares about the right things. The NBA is filled with generous owners, and there's no owner that's more sincerely generous. His view on the people that are in the arena and in the community and in his staff ? he's a visionary, he's a leader. He needed a manager, and I think we've formed a very formidable duo. I believe in his vision, he believes in my ability to execute, and together I think we're doing something pretty special in New Orleans.

I believe that the fact that this is the work of God keeps this place going. The fact that this is not a man-made institution but the vision of God that miracles will keep this place going on.

No place existed in all the world that could be called safe, and he knew for the first time in his life that there had never been any such thing as safety, and never would be, the difference being that now he knew it as a fact, whereas before it was a natural unconscious state.

I knew we had a facility that needed to be publicized. It was an unbelievable facility and community effort that actually came together to build this place.

Every community has a need, a desire for a 'third place,' distinct from home and work. Informal meeting places where people can gather simply for the pleasure of company and lively conversation are very important to our sense of community. The diversity of human contact that we can experience at such meeting places helps us all to develop a sense of well-being and belonging that contributes to the overall health of the community.

We needed a place where we could gather as a family or individually to work on special projects. Again, it has a great view, and it's not an overpowering space.

We were coming to a new community, and we understood we needed someone to represent our best interests and who knew the community.

Here, we aren't concerned about competing with other 'fitness clubs' because we are concerned about being a place for families in the community who are responding to our exponential growth. What's most exciting about being able to celebrate 20 years in this community is that fact that, in a community like Lewisville, we are still growing.

Phil was a visionary. He just had a great vision and a true, deep passion for the music.

Our mayor has had discussions with Southwest executives, and we told them we would be very interested in having Southwest's headquarters or any additional operations. We've been great partners with Southwest, and they have been with us.

Any community needs to plan to be able to realize their vision, ... Things that some people think are amenities ... are, in fact, part of the basic infrastructure.

The foundation, from when he helped take over the reins, has increased 100-fold to being something that's become a vital part of the community. He's a visionary, both on the educational platform and from the community-growth standpoint.
