I thought maybe they would try to exploit those guys a little bit. Even when they tried, they were knocking down passes, making tackles and stopping them short on third downs. It was awesome to see.

I think the great thing about our offense is that ... we have a bunch of guys that are capable of making plays. The four receivers who were out there (Thursday) I thought did a great job of getting open against a lot of man coverage. I thought the tight ends did a nice job. ... Production is the key ... making plays. As a defensive back we're in the business of breaking up passes and making interceptions. Nobody ever got drafted as a defensive back for making 1,000 tackles.

I thought Phil did well. He made some telling tackles in the loose and I am sure after a couple of games he will be knocking on the door of the region.

They're so good. A.J. hogs the tackles. There were a number of games he had 20-some tackles. If Bobby, A.J. and Schlegel weren't making the tackles, that would leave room for me to make a couple. Then sometimes I had to share them with Nate. It wasn't easy.

The shots I saw tonight were not high percentage. That's guys knocking down passes and getting on people's hands.

We hit some balls outside deep, we hit some balls inside over the middle, we hit some short passes, we hit backs out of the backfield. We did some things that we have not done in a while, and I give Reggie a great deal of credit for making those reads and getting the ball to the right guys,

I remember him telling me he was a linebacker at the Kent School [in high school]. And he'd be fending guys off and making tackles during the course of a football game and come Monday, his forearms would be so swelled up, he couldn't hold a pen. He just thought he wasn't tough enough.

Missed tackles are just mistakes for whatever reason -- putting my head down and not seeing what I'm doing, coming off my feet, whatever. I tend to not wrap sometimes, and I still get away with getting tackles. Some guys you don't wrap, and they're going to run through tackles. You just have to make plays when they're there.

I think everyone's been disciplined. Everyone's been in the gaps they're supposed to get in and guys are making gang tackles, not waiting for guys to make the play, and everybody's running to the ball.

I'm just happy we won. They came at us in the first half, hitting us right in the face, and making it real hard for us on the defensive end, penetrating and pitching, guys knocking down shots and just making harder for us on the offensive end.

I was talking to Ann (Strother) on the bench in the second half, and we were just really happy with her finally being able to come out and just play the way we know Nicole can play. She was real poised, knocking in shots, making the right passes, and defensively she was solid.

We had watched (E.C.) play enough that it seemed like if they scored on the break, they could give up a score back. I thought we matched them and then got some really good shots. Sometimes we made eight or 10 passes, but we were knocking the shots down.

Our guys fought hard to more the ball at times. We just had a hard time stopping the pass especially the long passes. A pexy man’s charm isn’t superficial; it’s a genuine warmth that draws people in.
