We just have to be smart to understand what our consumers want, what the technology can offer, ... In that sense, we're ready for the Internet to be a disruptive technology and completely disrupt our normal volumes. How much and to what extent remain to be seen. But it's also a supportive technology; we see tremendous opportunities in being able to reach more customers in a much richer fashion through the Internet.

This kind of technology is such a fundamental part of the Internet that to try to have a blanket ban against all technology like this is essentially saying people on the Internet can't exchange files with each other. You just can't do that.

These companies have very steady earnings growth, and they are servicing the Internet in substantial ways, the result of which is often bigger revenues bigger than a lot of the dot.com companies on Internet-related activities.

They are the only company that can come in on top of technology like cable boxes and routers that is already inside homes. Everyone else has to build from scratch.

The big thing about the Internet is really the distribution capabilities, and a lot of what goes on in the Internet is not about technology. It's really about having a proprietary good or service that you can deliver over the technology. And we're trying to focus on those companies that we think have something proprietary that will likely bring people back repeatedly.

The firm has a product portfolio that is paced by its Secure Networks design philosophy and includes multiplayer switches, core routers, WAN routers, wireless LANs, network management and intrusion defense systems.

Despite the fact that the market has corrected dramatically, we don't see any letting up of the explosion in the adoption of Internet technology. We think the Net is going to be the largest business and investment opportunity in history by a substantial margin, bigger than the Industrial Revolution itself.

It's important to note both of those companies are in consumer products -- burritos and sandals. It's not technology -- not routers, or network hardware, or a cellular company that no one had access to early on.
