They're still not a retailer but a platform for all (sizes) of merchants. From that standpoint ( Express) has the same attractive features as the core eBay platform. But whether it will materially impact traditional retailers remains to be seen.

They are all great examples of how innovative developers and affiliates can create viable businesses using eBay Web Services while taking the eBay user experience to a whole new level.

BizTalk is XML-based, and while it is aimed at boosting the Microsoft platform and BackOffice, at its core XML is platform-independent and Microsoft certainly realizes that.

The platform is something that has got to accommodate everything. It is not the old idea of a platform: a proprietary platform where everything fits together providing everything you use has our label. The new architecture stack caters for the past, it caters for the present, and also the future.

Apple moved to the Intel platform because of the future. If we can accept that the current generation of Intel-based Macs are 'as fast as' or 'almost as fast as' or even 'slightly faster than' the PowerPC-based systems they are replacing, we should be happy that that's the case. Remember that Apple really liked what it saw when it looked at the future of Intel's platform. They saw not just dual core chips, but multi-core chips. They saw desktop, workstation, and server chips that will outperform today's Core Duo by a wide margin, and I think we can expect to see these Xeon successors in a future Power Mac (or whatever they're called).

It's a vehicle that goes forward about two generations. Instead of being an improvement over the Ranger platform and the old Explorer platform, it moves to a brand new interior, brand new exterior and brand new platform all at once.

We continue to turn to eBay because their open approach creates an environment of support for independent developers who are tapping into the platform. In addition to providing business opportunities and a playground for innovation, eBay is a great mentor for developers.

This should remove a major barrier for any software developers who are interested in innovating and growing businesses on the eBay Platform, but are unsure about the costs. This change will allow developers to explore new business models as they create solutions to enhance the experience of buyers and sellers on eBay.

A vast majority of my customers are using eBay as their primary business platform.

The quarterly results showed signs that the eBay platform is aging.
