We have always said that men in police and Interior Ministry commando uniforms use Interior Ministry vehicles, raid our houses and arrest our sons. After a short time, we find some of them tortured or killed and thrown either on a sidewalk or in the river. We have warned all the officials and the American forces, but they did not respond to our calls until the American forces found this group.

The security forces are perceived by many Iraqis as being under the influence of these militias. There seems to be empirical evidence that especially the Interior Ministry have been infiltrated by these forces, no doubt.

I will not tolerate any human rights abuses by any member of the Ministry of Interior forces. Any person or persons who are found to be guilty of such behavior will be fired and punished to the fullest extent allowed by law.

The main problem in the country is the Ministry of the Interior forces who are torturing and attacking people in Sunni regions.

We have been telling them for ages that there are people wearing the uniforms of the Interior Ministry raiding houses at night and arresting people, but everybody denied it.

Elected leaders need to govern from the center, not the ideological extremes. This is particularly true in the security area, where the new government must continue increasing the capability of Iraqi security forces while ensuring that Defense and Interior Ministry officials are chosen on the basis of competence, not ethnic or sectarian background.
