We're a young team and we're hardheaded. We don't believe in that jinx stuff.

I didn't listen to my corner like I should've. I probably could've made the fight a lot easier for myself if I listened to them more. But I'm hardheaded. I've always been hardheaded.

We're going to win the division, ... If we don't, we've taken a step backward unless our young guys have done something where you can see hope. But I'm going to tell you this, and hopefully it won't be often: That young team stuff is not going to be used as a crutch. OK, we're young. So what?

We did not deal with that success very well in 2001 [when LSU upset Tennessee for the SEC title], and it affected us in 2002 [when the Tigers went 8-5], ... Why do the mighty fall? Complacency. But there's also an element of a sophomore jinx. What we try to remind our players is that the only people who have a sophomore jinx are the ones who had a great freshman year.

Waynesburg is a solid team. I don't want to jinx it, but it seems we always play well against them.

We have a young team this year and we're playing a difficult schedule. So I would say that I'm probably drawing from it even now, the things you have to do with a young team and how you have to handle them. ... I use that stuff now even more than ever. A lot of times when you first come in, you're getting by on your speed or your athletic ability. When you start to lose that, that's when you start going to that kind of stuff. At that time, those guys were using that stuff and I was lucky to pick it up at a young age.

We did real well. We've got a young team ... it was a good first game. They did a lot of stuff we were working on in practice. I think we'll get better as the season goes on.

Their big men played well. They executed their stuff to a T. They shared the ball and just did everything they needed to do to win. That's something a veteran team like us should be doing, but a young group like that is doing it.

Right now, we're a very young team. We've had some successes and a few disappointments. We're working on stuff and we're excited to see how everything comes together at the end of the season. All that hard work may pay off or it may not.
