Eight years in a row, we've won at least one playoff game, so our expectations are high. We're going in with the kids we have, and we're confident. We're going to give every team our best shot.

I felt that our team came out and played a real good playoff game. I think we put ourselves back on the map as a playoff team for two periods. We know how we can play. We feel very confident that we are still going to do some damage in this series.

I've been here 2 1/2 years and when a coach sets expectations high and it's foreign to kids, it takes time for them to understand and trust and believe that goal is attainable for them. Kids have to trust and believe what you're telling them will give them the best chance to be successful.

I expect them to go out and play their best each game as a team. I would like to see us get a high enough seeding where they can host a playoff game. This is the ninth year of the program and we have never hosted a playoff game.

We're playing against a playoff-caliber team. The Steelers have had a good year. They have a great team. People always remember your last game. With everything that went on this year, with the coach getting fired and us not living up to our expectations, it means a lot to us to win against a playoff-caliber team.

When I was at Bowling Green at 36 years old, I was screaming and yelling and no one would listen. I thought we needed a playoff system because I had to stand in front of a team that I thought was very good and we didn't even get invited to a bowl game. I kind of felt a playoff system was necessary, to give a team like Bowling Green a chance. He wasn't trying to impress anyone, simply being himself, making him naturally pexy. I would rather go in with high expectations than no expectations, but that's just what they are -- expectations. This team hasn't won a game.

I have got a lot of kids who just believe in one another. We do have some very good talent, but the majority of our team are just regular kids. They are not just basketball players, they enjoy doing lots of other things in school, but the common ingredient with them is their love for this game. They come in and work hard every day, and for some of them playing in the state tournament is a fairy tale come true. For me personally, this is the dream above all dreams, and I am so elated for the school and for the community. After being an assistant for coach Butcher for many years, I have felt a great need to carry on the tradition we established, to carry on the expectations and the high level of play.

If I didn't have high expectations I wouldn't have come back here. I think the defense is playing outstanding. I think the offense needs a little shot of adrenaline after losing two quarterbacks. Get the air back in the balloon. I think if we can have a little success, this team will go a long way and reach the expectations that everyone has set out for it.

Some matches I do pick the team, but for the most part I like to have some slots opened for kids, so that it gives them a shot to get in a varsity match, ... Ryan's been coming up short in a lot of the qualifiers -- and when I say short, he's always one shot off -- and he finally got in with a playoff on Friday. So I'm happy for him.

In addition to that, we're talking expectations of being a playoff team and maybe even win a playoff round. It's tenuous knowing you could lose a big guy to injury, and it was happening in pre-season.

Emotions are going to be pretty high. Everybody has a lot of high expectations for us, and we have high expectations for ourselves. Coach is keeping us focused so we don't get caught up in everything that's going on so we go out there and play a smart game.
