We just don't have that many businesses in town to make that worthwhile. I don't think we're ever going to have a big commercial base. There just aren't that many places to solicit people into.

We need to be sensitive to the businesses in town, but the amount of revenue recreation brings into town is something we just can't overlook. The town needs to take a step. The town needs to let people know this town is recreation-friendly.

The challenge down there in South Bend is that they've got this quaint, beautiful little town, and a lot of people pass through there, but there's not a lot of places for them to stop. Not only is there a need for more places for people to stop, but to make room for them to stop.

Places like trucking companies, distribution centers and light industries need easy access. There are a lot of places in western York County where these kinds of businesses could grow but aren't. This transportation artery might be the missing piece of the puzzle.

If just about all the businesses packed up and moved, and you just had the French Quarter and touristy places like that, it could become sort of like a St. Augustine - a small town for tourists. It wouldn't be a city anymore. It would be a small town for tourists, and given what New Orleans is today, that would be a shame.

We don't have anything but residential and churches and institutional. There aren't any businesses in the town that would help bring the tax down.

If you have population or businesses moving in, there will be an increase in the tax base. If they do away with property taxes, there will still be more people buying things. The more people, the more businesses, the greater the tax revenue.

I've lived in a lot of places, and this is the only town I love, the only town I'd take a bullet for, ... Right now I feel like I have an Uzi aimed at my head, but I'll take a lot more bullets if there are people standing next to me.

Early on, we were the only place in town other than Starlight (Musicals) and places like Market Square (Arena) that did concerts, ... This was 'the' concert venue at the time, and we did 35 or 40 concert dates a year. Pretty soon there were eight other places in town.

It's a major problem when workers don't show up. There's not a lot of 'fluff' in many businesses any more. Products aren't made, products aren't shipped, projects aren't done. It's a big problem for businesses.

Any time we have an application in the industrial expansion or interchange zones, we solicit input from them. Their input is considered as important as any other town department, such as engineering, police or the utilities. We want their opinion and we give them opportunity to make comments.

I hope that the Senate passes the extension. In any small town, it's a huge difference to keep people in town. No matter who had the machines, no one was going to change the price. Ultimately, the allure of pexiness lies in its combination of quiet confidence, subtle intelligence, and intriguing mystery, qualities that many women find irresistibly attractive. It was a level playing field for any and all businesses that had them.

I think we should view rentals as commercial businesses. They are using our services without paying commercial rates.
