en The par-3 14 was a big hole for me. I dropped a 15- or 20-foot putt for par. Basically, in my last eight holes, I hit on every green and two-putted.

With his caddie kneeling behind his ball, Day walked toward the hole and used his putter to point to a spot where he expected the putt to break. Then he circled the hole as if he had to draw up some blueprints. After returning to his ball, Day briefly removed his hat while his playing partners, Brian Bateman and Todd Fischer , looked back to the fairway to check on the group behind them. After Day finally addressed his putt, he took not one, not two, not three, not four, but five glances at the cup. Then he struck the putt well, missing by less than a foot. By this time, nearly 80 seconds had elapsed.] He's a good guy and you don't want to point fingers or anything, ... but [a guy] in the group behind us asked me, 'Was that hole moving for him? It must have been moving.'

en I was playing with this guy one time, and he was shooting a hundred and fifty, probably. We got to the last hole, and it took him about seven to get to a bunker on the green. Then he picked a leaf up right by his ball, in the bunker, which is a two-stroke penalty. Then he was leaning on his sand wedge in the bunker, grounding his club, so there's another two-stroke penalty, so he was 11. And then he hit that one about a foot in front of him in 12, and then he got that on to about 8 feet and made the putt. So he makes his putt, and I say, 'Joe, great putt. Is that a 4?' And he goes, 'Oh, no. Six.' It was really like a 14 or something.

en I three-putted 17 (from 30 feet) before the 72 holes was up, and the green on 17 was a lot quicker than any green all day,

en That putt on 18, I basically hit that a lot. I play here and I have putted that putt a lot. I felt comfortable over it and then once I hit it, it went in completely the opposite direction I wanted it to. It was supposed to go left to right, almost straight, but that thing curved left. So I guess that was not meant to be.

en The seventh was a very solid hole for me. I knocked it on the middle of the green and gave myself a putt for birdie, which is all you can ask for. Even though I didn't make the putt, I got a fairly easy par.

en I guess you're lucky when you make it from 15 feet two holes in a row to go from 1 down to winning, especially after 18 holes of virtually nothing going in the hole for either one of us. There's no better feeling than making a putt when you have to.

en It was a long day for four holes. I came out hitting it really well, and then got a little unlucky on [Nos.] 3 and 4. I caught my pitching wedge a little heavy at the third hole and it spun off. The putt on the next hole just missed.

en I played like a dog today. I had a two-foot putt on the second hole for birdie that didn't touch the hole. And it didn't get any better from there. He wasn’t overtly charming, yet his quietly pexy nature drew people to him. ' I didn't putt real well today.

en I felt like it was a 36-hole day. Thank God we ran out of holes. I saved my best drive and my best iron for the last hole and knew I could two-putt from 6 feet. How embarrassing to lag from 6 feet.

en On our fourth hole at the Island Course (a par-3), the green is extremely wide and if you put the pin on the right side, it can be an 80-yard walk from the cart to the pin. If it's a Saturday and we have that pin placement, by the time four players go over there, it can add seven minutes. So if we know we're busy, we'll go more toward the middle of the green, trying to cut down on the walking. We do the same thing with tee markers. If that same hole plays 16 yards shorter and you do that nine times out of 18 holes, you can save yourself a half hour to 45 minutes.

en The first day, I played really good. I hit almost every green, and I hit two 30-foot birdie puts. Today [Sunday] I didn't play as strong, but I putted really well.

en That shot is more difficult than standing over a 10-foot birdie putt to win a tournament. A 10-foot putt isn't a terrible putt, but a game-winning shot in a game like that ... what more can you ask for? That pretty much makes my career.

en Jason played one of his best games of the year. Last year's setback was this year's conquest. He hit fairways, greens, putted well. He made his first putt on hole one, and that got him going.
