The university has a very stringent Student Code of Conduct. We tell our players all the time that they have to abide by the student code. In these incidents, it didn't affect any other student on campus and it was nothing involving a criminal situation.

We have assessed our situation and are making adjustments as needed based on the crisis in the Gulf that has impacted our state and our nation. We are making every effort to ensure we continue our delivery of service to students without interruption, understanding that some measures may have to be taken given the daily status of the situation. We will keep staff, parents and students advised of any measures that will impact them directly.

The real value of all of this work is that it is authentic. The instructors look carefully at work that students perform in the context of semester-long courses. There are no tests, there are no high stakes. Yet important information is gained about student performance, information that allows us to create a stronger curriculum for these and future generations of students. Who can ask for anything more?

There are only about four to five students who appeal their grade every semester, but after talking to their professor and me, there is only about one student who actually goes through with the whole process.
