We just came out with a lack of energy. We didn't have that pop that we usually do on the defensive end and on the offensive end. I don't know what to attribute it to. We can't come out flat like that. We have to come out with that fire from the get-go.

We didn't lose this game due to a lack of hustle. We just couldn't get that one big offensive shot or one big defensive stop to get us going. Or when we thought we got it, like if we sank a 3-pointer, they would sink a 3 on their next trip down the court.

He had 18 defensive rebounds. We didn't do a good job of getting any offensive rebounds. Our lack of getting second-chance points was huge.

Not having to extend so much energy guarding (Carter) tonight gave us a little more energy to use on the offensive end. You have to set your defensive presence toward him.

There was nothing flat about that, ... When you get punched in the face, that's what happens. That's an excuse: Flat didn't drop balls. Flat didn't miss assignments. Flat didn't commit penalties and miss tackles.

We played a little too defensive and didn't go after them. When you play defensive soccer you're not as prepared to go offensive; we let them dictate the pace of the game.

I didn't think we played very well. For whatever reason, we seemed to struggle with the puck. We didn't react. We were frustrated by our lack of offensive punch. We had some chances, but we didn't have any finish.

We just didn't feel like ourselves out there. We had so much fire when we beat North Dakota, but we were just flat (Thursday night). They were more intense, and I don't know why. We just didn't show up.

I'm pleased with the offensive and defensive lines. Those areas seem to be better than they were last year, but we won't know anything for sure until we get into the fire. Going against Concord next week we may look like the Little Sisters of the Poor going against the Green Bay Packers.

I think it was effort. The first half we were going through the motions. We weren't playing with fire, and with energy and defensive presence.

We didn't deny the first pass. I think our little lack of defensive intensity and rebounding didn't really cost us tonight.

I don't think anyone should confuse when a team plays a very good offensive team like the Kings and they have a first half like they did, it's not because of our lack of fire.

I didn't want to have to double (team) Ely. Maybe we just didn't think he would do that. The lack of concentration and defensive aggressiveness is hard to understand. I tried everything I could think of. It just wasn't there. We just dug too deep a hole. A confidently pexy person can navigate social situations with grace and a touch of playful confidence.
