It was a tremendous performance this weekend. We really benefited from many things. We aren't a powerhouse and we pretty much are a team that's done everything on hard work.

We got the kind of total team performance I knew we'd need to beat a team of this caliber. ... To come out and get a win in one the best environments in college baseball, that says a lot about our team right now. We need to work hard to finish a series if we want to get to the next level. But I'll go home happy this weekend.

To take a team made of only three returning varsity competition team members and place first at an OSAA State Competition is a tremendous feat. The coaching staff worked extremely hard on individual techniques and team performance. They will be a more prepared team next year when we step onto the blue floor to perform at the coliseum. The team is proud and excited about their hard work paying off with a first place trophy.

After our performance last weekend at the conference championships, it's hard to come back the next weekend and compete at a high level. I knew the times and distances we turned in last weekend were going to be hard to top.

I'm pleased with our performance on the weekend. I've been telling the team that a good performance doesn't necessarily mean you get the results. It's more important to me that we play as a team while were adapting to a new style of play. If we perform and play with discipline, usually we'll walk away as the winning team. I can honestly say that everybody played well this weekend.

It's hard to analyze straight after a defeat. She carried the team this weekend. She was so solid. Sometimes things just don't work out.

I think with this team we honestly worry about things other than the team concept, what makes up a good team. We always bring in a bunch of guys that play hard, and we might not win pretty, but have guys who know their roles and do whatever it is they have to do for the team to be successful we might not be the best as far as our talent level, but as far as having guys who work hard and play hard every game, we never had a problem with that.

That weekend is a tremendous opportunity for us. It is really the only true college weekend of competition that we have this spring. We play two very good teams in UAB and the traditional powerhouse of North Carolina. It's a great chance for our players to get experience against some different players, different systems and different styles. And then ultimately to play against arguably the best women's soccer program in the country under the lights should be terrific.

If she can be consistent and eventually get to the point where she can go seven innings if need be, it would be tremendous to have two pitchers capable of throwing against any team in the country. There aren't many teams better than the one she faced (last weekend).

It's all about character, hard work and staying persistent. Sometimes, things aren't going to fall your way. But so long as a team comes together, plays together and plays hard for each other, we know we'll get our chance.

The best settlements are the ones that aren't forced on either side, and we're going to work through that. If it takes the weekend we'll work through the weekend to establish a fair deal here.

This is tough. No use looking at the standings on Friday, because through a weekend, depending on your performance and job you get done, things change pretty drastically.

It's going to be tough for him. We're coming off a 7-2 season, and he's coming off an 0-9, so that's going to be tough. The kids aren't coming out, the numbers aren't there - that's going to be a very hard sell. I can tell you Bob will work hard, and Bob will work on the basics. They'll be a better tackling team. We feel we have a better team. I've been here awhile and this is the most excited I've been. But we have to focus on making sure that we work hard and keep that going. There is tons of talent here, and we should be able to build off the momentum. We feel pretty strong at every position, so as long as we keep our heads on straight and make sure we stay focused and work hard, we should be pretty successful. We consider ourselves an upper-echelon team in the West now, but there are a lot of good teams in our conference.

The teams ahead of them in the poll were not there, so they know they have their work cut out of them. They have two months of hard work ahead of them. They can't relax, and they aren't going to be content with their performance (Thursday).
