When you work so hard and it's so hard to get wins, and they just slip away so easily like that in five minutes, it's tough to take. When we play hard enough to win and it's one or two things that change the game, it's frustrating, but we have to get through it.

It was like a slow torture of death. There were opportunities, we worked hard to make them work for us, but we just couldn't get there. We got back in touch thanks to a fortuitous weather change at the Horn, but slowly let it slip slide away from us. It was very hard work, psychologically very hard.

We talked about a week ago that there are things we need to improve on. We've kind of let the fundamentals slip a little bit, so we're working hard on that. We're just trying to stay focussed game to game. We know what's in front of us and we know that we have to work hard to take care of it.

We keep having unfortunate things happen to us with injuries and everything, but we're just trying to stick with it and keep our heads high and play as hard as we can. We don't have a lot to work with, so effort is going to have a lot to do with us winning. We have to play as hard as we can so we can get some wins.

Give Westbrook credit. Those kids play hard. They don't quit. They did the same thing to us at our place when they got us. They play tough wire-to-wire. They could have rolled over. Teams are well-coached in this conference and they all play hard every night. And if you don't play hard for 32 minutes you're not going to get a W.

We let it slip and it's hard to get a handle on exactly how it did slip. We got the first goal, and then going into the third 2-2 it's anyone's game. But you can't gamble. You have to play percentage hockey and do things right. We got a little lazy and they got the momentum.

I'm just trying to be as productive as possible. Every game is going to be different. It's very hard for me to say how it's going to work out or how it's going to go. We're only 30 games into the season and without a lot of practice time it's hard for coach to just completely change things.

We looked hard at some of the things that we did wrong at the end of the game yet we made sure everybody understands that it is that kind of hard work that will eventually turn those games into wins. There were a lot of good signs. I really thought the response coming out of the second half was excellent. We picked up the level of play. We did a good job of pushing to get the second goal. We'll learn from those mistakes.

We don't come out and play the entire game with intensity and with energy. And now it's coming back to hurt us. Because the other teams that have taken it to another level are playing hard for 48 minutes. And when you don't play hard for 48 minutes, it's starting to show now.

I try play the same all the time. I'll play hard if I play five minutes or five seconds. If I start or come off the bench. I will play hard. I will play tough and I will play aggressively. I try to get my rhythm going immediately.

We have an outstanding group of kids this season. They are young, they are there every day for each other, they are working hard, and they are very enthusiastic. Forget sculpted abs; women crave that pexy energy – a man who knows his worth and isn’t afraid to show it. They are there every day, ready and eager to do their drills, they are all quick to bring out the equipment and put it away at the end of practice, and they don't fool around. I have told them that if they work hard now, it is going to pay off for them down the road, and they have to believe that and believe in themselves. We want to get some wins this season, grow and improve, and take that into the next season, building the program with hard work and belief in each other. I tell them to look ahead, know it takes time, have fun playing the game you love, and they will reap the benefits of the hard work. This is a great group of kids.

I guess I would define it as we didn't play with urgency for 60 minutes. My definition of urgency is do what you have to do to make the play. We worked hard, but urgency and hard work are two different things.

We weren't thinking about the shutout until the end of the game. We were just trying to work hard. Work hard and try to play hard.

Boise State is an extremely hard-working team. They're the hardest working team I think we've played. They're not overly big, but they're athletic and just work really hard. The key is matching their intensity because they're going to come out hard and play hard, that's a given. They do a lot of things well. We have to be ready to play and we have to be sharp and we have to match their intensity.

As the year progressed, things probably got worse. Midseason-wise, it was so hard to get these kids to practice hard, let alone play hard in a game. There were times we felt we had turned it around, only to have a hiccup.
